A friend was arguing with me about the current the regulator is producing to charge your battery....isn't it still ac after it passes thru it? The battery is charged with alternating current and then producing dc to feed the led bar?

Can I use a raptor reg rec for charging my battery after i float the ground from my stator? Also what is the fifth wire in the center on the regulator for?

A regulator keeps the voltage in a certain range, like the lighting Regulator on the blaster, just regulates the AC voltage for the lighting
a rectifier coverts AC to DC voltage
most conversions on here have used a regulator/rectifier combo to put 12v DC to a battery, TrailTech makes one.

not sure what the raptor uses ? you'll need to test it with a multi meter while on the Raptor to find out if it's 12v AC or DC
my guess is it's a Reg/Rec and coverts the stator output to 12v DC.

Thank you awk....you've deff givin me good pointers and are mainly the only person who really helps with my noob questions lol....I have one more for ya.....I'm having hard starting issues....my reeds are brand new carb boot brand new....new needle and seat new intake clamps new choke assembly....still cant figure out why its giving me issues starting....I have to kick it at least 4...5 times and most the time with the choke....can jetting cause hard starts? Stock is 230 pilot right? Also I have a new aftermarket ignition coil and new coil on the starter (ignition side)....I run premium with a 32:1 mix....either klotz...or gold spec

Yes, jetting can cause a hard start problem, or idle, or mid throttle, or full throttle as your 230 main suggests

pilot/airscrew controls start, idle and up to 1/4 throttle
the needle length, taper and clip settings controls 1/4 - 3/4 throttle
main jet controls 3/4 to full throttle

so for a hard start issue, look into the pilot (stock 32.5 has worked for every blaster I've tuned) and the airscrew setting
Tune the airscrew to achieve highest idle as described here, should be between 1/2 and 2-1/2 turns out ....

Thank you I just got a rebuild kit yesterday with the stock jets in it...idk why they have different size jets in it....it has a fmf fatty and shorty but so does my brothers and his starts up and rips just fine....also Instead of a floating ground reg rec and battery to run led headlights can I just use a full wave single phase bridge rectifier with the stock wiring to run the led w dc current? Instead of hooking a battery up?
