So I’m a blaster noob other than riding my friends as a kid and I’m a noob to high performance two strokes or anything beyond the basics. I’ve learned a lot through these threads just in ordering parts and all the do’s and Don’ts. Great to be a part of the community

currently have an 06 blaster that I bought for 900 about a month ago. Bought it trusting it ran and it did once I ordered a couple woodruff keys. Glad I ordered two cuz the first one sheered due to improper torque on the flywheel nut. Used the impact wrench the second time around and it’s held since. Had to make a gasket for the petcock cuz it leaked as soon as I filled the tank But other than that didn’t take much to get it running. And I ripped it around for a week but am pretty much in rebuild mode

Mostly cosmetic and hardware updates on the bike right now but performance and engine parts are here or arriving in the next week.

So far I have:

-Replaced the clutch lever assembly with brand new OEM ( old assembly was worn out and loose lever

-Replaced the levers with blue and red adjustables

-Replace master cylinder and throttle covers with red outlaw racing hardware for accent

-Put a K&N high flow air filter in it and cleaned out the whole intake. (It was filthy)

-Put a cheap red aluminum china crossbar on it and a pro taper Stars and Stripes pad

-Tusk front bumper/grab bar

-XFR pro series 2 nerf bars with red webbing

-Blue metal vented gas cap

-Made my own DIY rollers from a thread on here
-Upholstered the seat with a new red marine vinyl cover

-Have a blue alba racing rear grab bar that I already ground down on pavement but The XFR wide grab bar is on its way

-Put an underglow kit on it that does all colors and functions with a remote. And a led whip flag that does the same

-Bolted some led off-road lights to the front fenders

-AMR Stars and Stripes full decal set

Parts waiting to go on (the good stuff):

ENGINE:

-Vito’s 240 big bore kit with +3mm stroker crank

-Vito’s fat bastard full exhaust

-vforce 4 reed valve and reeds

-Keihin 35mm air striker

-oil delete kit(will delete TORS as well)

REAR END/DRIVE:

-Swing arm shop heavy duty +3 with round house carrier swing arm

-Vito’s aluminum round axle carrier

-tusk adjustable axle

-400ex rear shock

-Xfr aluminum swing arm skid plate

-banshee rear hubs

-ITP ss chrome and black rims. 10 in front 9 in back. MassFX tires all around

-Jt sprockets 14/40 and jt 520 120 link gold and black x-ring chain

-modquad front chainslider

-tm designworks double roller rear chain guide

That should be everything I can think of for now.

Still doing research and making sure I got quality jets in the right sizes to tune and plug chop with

Need to figure out what reed spacer I need to fit my carb in there.

Need a boot to fit the new carb

Eventually gonna get a arms here soon and do the front end and eventually work on the bottom end of it needs it

Want Elkas down the road maybe but might not be even worth it if I don’t race, mx or jump big

Need to troubleshoot the 12v to the stock lights at somepoint

Reactions: Awk08
Some issues I could use guidance on:

-How to adapt my rear brake to a +3

(Do I just buy a longer hose and fill with more fluid? I wanted one of Awk08’s gsxr setups but he doesn’t make em anymore? I might still try to make my own)

-reed spacer. Need or not?

(I’ve read in the forums that it’s needed for my 35mm carb but others have said you can turn it and it fits by a hair)

-Petcock: buy a banshee wiener?

As I mentioned before it was leaking when I filled it the first time and had to cut a jerry rigged gasket. I need to clean the tank out too cuz the wiener vas deferens and urethra tubes had all sorts of dirt and doo doo on them. Also it doesn’t seem to stop the flow of gas completely in the off position. Should I buy I New one? I know a banshee one is pointless but if it’s cheaper I will go for convenience to the carb

A couple more pics of the cosmetics

Big bore kit and exhaust got delivered today but I’m at work for 6 more hours. Tusk Axle came in yesterday

Ordered a cfm airbox and switching over to uni filter. Ordered the silicone sleeve that Awk08 suggests too

Got a main jet kit from Vito’s and ordered 50 through 65 pilots through jetsrus for the airstriker

Yes to banshee weiner, it allows you to use the same size fuel line as the inlet on the 35mm carb. 5/16" line i believe, versus stretching 1/4" line over it and risking it splitting while riding

yes to +3 line and re-bleed brakes

use reed spacer if needed for carb clearance, I wouldn't tilt the carb.
reed spacers will also move your power band .... in front of reeds will lower it, behind the reeds will raise it

It’s hard to find a +3 line but I’m also being picky in finding a red one so I’m reaching out to a seller on eBay to see if they can get or make one in +3

Yeah I’ve heard that about the spacers. It will be nice to have that option when tuning it as well. Do you know what minimum size spacer I will need or a size you suggest?

All set on those 3 issues.

Ordered banshee petcock

Ordered +3 banjo bolt line

Going with the 3/8 reed spacer. Seems they come in 3/8 and 1/2. I’m sure 3/8 is enough to clear my carb

So elkas ..... anyone familiar with the legacy series? They seem new within the past year. A full set of 3 is under 1k

It seems stage 3’s are the preferred on this forum but that might have been before a more affordable and practical series was available

So my swing arm came in

It’s a +3 (heavy duty version) with roundhouse carrier and skid plate mounts from the swing arm shop

I know the swing arm shop had a bad reputation in the past but when I reached out to ken O’Conner himself for a t-rock on his website he recommended them since he no longer markets those. He said swing arm shops quality and reputation has improved greatly.

Below is a picture of it with my XFR skid plate

My only complaint so far is the Crome finish chips off easily. Below are pictures of some chips from checking the skid plate for fit as well as other chips from who knows what. Maybe me moving it around since unboxing.

Ultimately I’ll probably powder coat it down the road with the frame so not a huge upset just a minor disappointment. Reality check is things never stay pretty forever and it’s not gonna matter with my eyes on the trail ahead

Yeah I’m gonna send em an email about it. I did have to custom order it and tell them to list an arm with those options on eBay so they may have made it in a rush. After waiting so long for a swing arm I don’t wanna have to send one back to them and or possibly drop more on lone star lol

More goodies. Almost ready to start the build

Way Jelly of suspension :p

They are definitely the luxury gem of the whole build. It’s the new legacy series. Everything but the high speed compression adjustment of stage 5, so they are on par with stage 3 yet affordable......ish lol. still better than trying to find a set of used stage 3’s That match bike geometry, rider weight, and riding preference.

I don’t regret the investment. Fresh of the Canadian assembly line fine tuned to my fingerprint. Now I can experiment with the full range of adjustments and know it’s not gonna impact the integrity of the shocks or anything on the bike

So I have a GoPro hero 7 black and stack of top of the line parts sitting in boxes waiting for a full rebuild. I feel I would be doing a disservice if I didn’t take advantage and make YouTube videos on the build.

I’m an noob to making YouTube tutorials and the blaster/two stroke quads, so I’ll give it a go and edit out the parts where I get stumped and have to turn to the forums lol. I’ll make sure I separate the videos into each part install and hopefully make it useful.

Btw got a driveline 240 HD clutch kit and weisco billet clutch basket in the mail and going on too
