01 blaster just did a top end carb rebuild and new Byson reeds. It’s running rich I have 230 jet in it right now, still way to rich. The carb kit came with a 110 I used it not knowing factory was 230. With the 110 it ran like a rapped ape but way sluggish in first, but was on the back wheels threw the rest of the gears. But was way to lean. Still not knowing I put a 170 in it and it ran like dog crap. Then I step back did some research then that when I found out it was post to have a 230 in it. I still have 120psi on compression. But is pooring smoke like it’s blown up. Fmf gold series pipe open air box also. I live in ky it was about 80 degrees today. Just for giggles I threw threw a 150 in it and ran like no other but once again lean. Any help much appreciated.

exactly what "carb kit" did you buy ?
a jetting kit ? or whole carb ? Mikuni or Keihin or Chi-wanese knock off ?
if whole carb (they never have the correct jets or needle and possibly wrong slide too)

Mikuni jetting will be 230 thru 330-ish #'s for most blasters
Keihin will be 140's to 170 #'s for blasters, with 150's being most common for your mods

where is your stock carb ? <put it back on with the stock slide, pilot and needle, and 290/300/310 main jet for the FMF and open airbox,
start large and plug chop down

It’s a mikuni and it was a complete rebuild kit for it the only thing different was the jet size was a 110 but all the parts was the same as what was in the carb. When I realized it was lean I started at 300 and I had to hold it wide open just to run at idle but poured smoke. I tried the plug chop with jets from 170 up to 230 and the plug looked like I just pulled it out of the box and dumped gas on it no color what so ever.

ditch all those jets and needle from that kit and put all the genuine Mikuni stock parts back in, stock 32.5 pilot, stock needle on middle clip setting, then buy genuine mikuni 270 thru 310 main jets, start large and plug chop down until correct.

I will do that for sure all the others jets came from a buddy that use to own nothing but Yamaha and has all kinds of new mikuni jet kits and the pilot is a 32.5 and needle is in the middle clip but I will start all over today to see what happens thanks.

So I figured out the issue I feel like a complete dumb ass, there was no pilot jet in the car at all. I put one in and night and day difference. But I’m still fighting with a high idle. I found that the exhaust was leaking at the jug. I sealed it up I’ll find out tomorrow if it’s holds and I just sent notice that I’m missing a bit one one of the studs that hold the jug down I’ll pick up one tomorrow also to fix that. Thanks for the info.
