Day 1: recently aquired an '04. Came with new tires, FMF sliencer, K&N filter, no air box lid, new seat, Fresh top end bore 40 Over and TORS delete that was done by someone with an IQ of tree stump.
Removed all the plastic and tank. Which wasn't difficult being that it was almost entirely held together with tywraps and electrical tape. Spent the next few hours salvaging the wiring harness. As an electrician my nightmares are more pleasant. I did what I could and it has spark again. Throttle Cable is off a farm tractor I think. Which was melted comfortably to the head pipe. A rim is bent so new tires won't hold air for long. I don't even know where to start with the Carb. There is a tiny amount of play in the front drive sprocket. How this monstrosity even ran is beyond me.. I have my work cut out for me.
Next up, leakdown test and diving into the Carb 6th gear pinned...

Frankenblaster Update!!!
Leak down test 98% successful. The only apparent leak is at the reed cage. V4's will be here next week. Once i get the new reeds in I will do a final LD just to make sure he holds for 10 min(???). I am confident all is well my creations power plant. Sprayed soapy water everywhere numerous times and did not see any bubbles. Mrs. Frankenblaster will be upset when she sees we are out of Fabuloso this morning.
Front rim valve stems re drilled and wheels flipped. FYI a standard valve stem hole is .453" which translates to a 29/64 drill bit. Discovered right front brake piston will not re-open. I am Pretty sure it is fluid issue. New brake lines were installed previously and judging by the other quality of work done on other components, I'm guessing they were not properly bled or lubricated. Nothing surprises me anymore about this former turd soon beast...
TORS DELETE COMPLETE! Idle screw installed. Carb Just needs a good cleaning and blow out. Then ready for rebuild. The former keepers had it Jetted to a 270 main with only K&N, No lid, and procore2 silencer. Which leads me to believe engine might actually be bored 40 over. I've recently acquired a gold series Fat Boy. once every thing is installed correctly. The new FMF power up kit i just ordered will come in handy for the eventual plug chop. What is everyone's opinion??? Start at 300 and work my way down?? Running 93 oct. 32/1 Caster 927 and I can smell the ocean from here...
Painting rims and nose cone as well as finishing carb, with any luck on Sunday. Will post pics soon after. All and all I felt like i got a ton done yesterday. Which BTW was the first day off I've had in 3 weeks 14- 16 hours a day... No rest for the wicked, especially when your boss is SATAN!!!

A leak is a leak in my opinion. However, I would get another gasket and put one one both sides of the cage. Tighten bolts incrementally and in diagonally pattern. Only to 7 ft/lbs IIRC, up to you to do able check spec.

Check that the slide screw will actually hold slide up, before mounting. Sucks when you have to do it again .

Sounds like you've been busy.

What happened to your pics?

Not sure about pics.... And yes I agree a leak is definitely a leak. Will 100% retest once all components are installed correctly.. The reason for the v4 replacement I forgot to mention, is I did discover a small chip in one of the corners of a reed. It appeares to be original stock Reed's so time for an upgrade... With a solid day tomorrow on painting and Carb rebuild and ALSO Now the front brake issue. When Reed's and power up kit arrive. I can test and be ready for plug chop.

Also thank you. I Did not think about diagonal tightening pattern... Could be very well why it leaked there. Altough the gaskets were in need of replacement upon initial inspection... Copy that on the 7 ftlbs... Thanks again bro

Frustration and disbelief..... The words I choose to describe this build... Leak down test still unsuccessful. Vforce reeds installed torqued to 6lbs diagonally..... Still leaking between cage and intake and boot and cage..... Applied Permatex 2 form A.... Finger tightened....24 hours later proceeded to re torque and have now discovered one the 4 bolts will not tighten. Threads are stripped, and no not the brand new bolts that came with the reeds. The bolt hole is stripped and will need to be tapped....Now seeing that this bolt hole is millimeters away from the cylinder intake I can only think of a few options to prevent any shavings from the re-tap entering the cylinder chamber. Plug the port of course. Then stand the bike up past vertical. In this position any shavings should fall away from not into the port. As back up run a shop vac hose right next to the process to catch any airborne and or micro trash. If ANYONE has any thoughts or suggestions on this S*it show, please by all means. To Add to all this I have now discovered a slight bend to the front end of the frame. Ill deal with that after tear down before PC. On a good note TORS delete, Idle air screw, and Carb rebuild are complete. I believe FMF sent me the wrong power up kit or i just flat ordered the wrong one. It came with 210 220 360 370 jets and No cylinder spring.. was expecting
260 - 300 in jets... a 360 and 370 wouldn't that be for a big bore kit or heavily moded engine??? I Need to research that... All and all my creation still does not have a functional heart but i refuse to give up on ole Frankie...
