Hey all so not been on this in over a year!

My last toy I had while using this was a 2007 YZ 125 which I ended up selling as my local track closed again and I had no where to use it.

Since then I finally told family about how where I was living and how it affected me as I had a meltdown in June last year and walked out with a packed bag. I have since moved into a two bedroom house (tenant) And after getting settled for 6 months iv got myself into some projects again

Iv got at moment

Vauxhall Vivaro van (needs clutch master cylinder done and new timing belt kit fitted)

Yamaha XJ 400 1994 (no idea what it needs as not looked at it yet )

Yamaha XJ 600 2000 reg (this runs but needs tlc as was in low speed crash )

Yamaha Fazer 600 1998 (currently dead when hooked up to battery so need to test electrics )

My current one I’m working on is a Honda XR 125 2008 reg which has been stripped down to be powder coated

In all iv learned a lot these last 6 months knowing I can survive on my own and I’m able to fend for myself. Just need to sort out my anxiety issues and see about working but that is starting this month with a group with local council to help me getting in among people again.

Hope everyone has had a good new year :)

Glad to hear that you're doing well.
Working on machines can be calming, but walk away if you get frustrated.

Don't know about your laws but "herbal" product may help you. :D

Thanks man , it’s just my nerves I have problems with really now but I am now on meds which help and don’t give me any side affects otherwise I don’t take them..

glad to be back to working on bikes though not really thought about a off road toy as the places to legally use them over here are a nightmare so just sticking to road toys the now going for my A2 licence sometime in March so will be able to go further field then.

Glad to be away from where I was though as my whole thoughts system is different and I actually look forward to stuff now and having a life rather than being stuck doing nothing everyday

Just waiting to hear from council about this group thing to help get me among people again so hopefully it will be soon

In mean time I’m working on the XR for now as it will be the first bike I use next month until I get A2 licence and fix my Fazer 600 for road

Honda XR 125 L 2008 bike thread first

My current bike to use on a Cbt until I get my A2 licence and fix my Fazer 600 to put on road.

Pictures are off bike built will get some more today as it sits just now as it’s nearly dismantled

Currently going with

Full strip down
Frame and swing arm sand blasted and powder coated as it failed mot to corrosion

Some small things to do before building it up again

Yoke bearings
Swing arm bearing kit
Brakes rebuilt with new pads etc
Shorty levers if I can find a set
Grips
Indicators replaced with mini ones
Wheels polished up (tyres are fine)
Carb rebuilt
Exhaust cleaned up

currently going with a jet black frame not sure colour of swing arm and a few other bits yet as my plastics are a mix of red , white and black so might go with Honda red or candy apple red swing arm but not sure yet

So finished dismantling it for now until I get rest of but no rush as just cost £80 to get a rear rack for it lol but as you can just make out in photo (need a bulb for this bedroom lol) it’s highly rusty frame and swinger but il be getting it sand blasted & powdercoated next month

Going with

Jet black frame
Honda red wheels
Honda red foot brake lever
Jet black swinger (think this would be good with frame or would it be better red?)
Shorty levers in red
White hand guards
Tank freshly painted / powdercoated
And couple odd bits of metal for horn etc in red

Be a couple of months but working on my van first as it’s getting sold once it’s fixed so il be using some of that cash for XR and the rest is for my A2 licence.

Thinking of getting the xi400 running and just braking it or selling as I won’t be keeping it as gonna use the Fazer for road and the xj600 is for the custom cafe racer build later in year.

Little update

Frame is now completely bare ready to go to Powdercoater’s.

Wheels also stripped from forks (still tyres to take off) to be powdercoated

Iv changed colour of red

Going with

Jet black frame
Jet Black chain and sprockets
Jet Black clutch and brake levers
Jet Black swingarm
Jet black luggage rack

The rest will be candy apple red which are

Wheels
Footbrake lever
Gear lever
Rear spring on shock
Handlebars
Side stand

Forks I’m not sure where I’m going yet if I’m going to do them black or just leave the ends silver

will Be ordering these over the course of the next 4 weeks

Linkage kit for swingarm
Front and rear wheel bearings
Rear shoes
Renthal bar pad
Front brake hose in black
Grips
Mirrors
Carbon wrapped mini indicators

Working out the parts are £300 and it’s going to be between £300-£400 for getting parts powdercoated.

Might get it done sooner than 4-8 weeks but just depends how my van goes this weekend and when it sells. Also gonna work on the XJ 400 and XJ 600 As planning to just sell them and keep my XR and Fazer 600 for using on road.

Polish fork legs. Red rotors except wear area. Or white?

Possibly lol I had a look at my xj600 today but engine is damaged (beyond repair without having to change bottom crankcase) so just breaking it instead. Good news is my xj 400 is turning over great just need to hook up hoses for carbs and fill it with fuel to see if it will go. Will be ordering parts for XR as the xj stuff sells as my money left the now I’m going to put a side for my Cbt and A2 licence so I don’t have as much to save nearer time to do it

My Fazer will be likely be my long term project after XR is done as the starter is jammed when connected to battery so will need to look over it to see what it all is going to require.

On plus side I have arranged meeting with guy from council today for next week to meet him to arrange to start the group from what I assume he is wanting to meet for anyway unless it’s to say I amnt getting into it lol

Having to replace the rear shock with a upgraded Hano shock as my original is too expensive to service and it works out cheaper for a upgraded one. Il be ordering parts on the 4th Feb as got stuff to pay this month (joys of being out on my own lol)

My frame has now completely been stripped so footpegs etc are off.

I’m going to get the frame and swingarm done soon in black. As for the other bits I’m still deciding what other small parts I’m doing in what but have decided on these so far

Candy Red will be these

Both wheels

Foot pegs

Handlebars (they look more pink in person so just going to get them done as to buy them new it’s £50 but there not the shade of red I want. )

Also doing these black

Fork tubes I’m going with black to off set the candy red wheels.

Brake callipers black

Also black clutch and brake lever (although I’m just buying new levers as there £10 for the pair in black already)

Still thinking about hand guards but not sure if I’m going with white or red yet as gonna see what bike is like built with the bits together then decide as not a Necessary the now.

I’m starting driving lessons again at the end of the month as well not to drive car just so I have my licence as when I am eventually ready to work once I get my nerves sorted most jobs require it and by That time my insurance will more than likely have decreased with me using my bike for now.

So not much happening the now except for I got my new indicators in post and my white front brak cable.

Gonna see about ordering a few more bits next week once I get birthday over with and see what funds I have as my powdercoating will likely be the last thing done once I get all parts ordered that way I just need to get powdercoated then I can get it built up

Going to see about working on my van this week as iv got parts now to do it so quicker I get done quicker I get it listed for sale.

So little update

XR been put on hold for now due to

I need to get my Vauxhall Vivaro van done and sold.

Iv just purchased a Vauxhall combo 1.3 2008 van as my main vehicle as learning to drive. Needs engine replaced But will be cheap to do rather than buying this year if van ready to use.

I get it tomorrow so will update :)

My XR is currently dismantled in bedroom as I can’t do anything with it until I have £700 to do powdercoating and replace rear shock.

As for xj 600 it’s pretty much been sold in bits just the 400 cc one to go next as I just don’t have funds to do bikes I don’t plan to keep.

Should be a fun year though :)

Label everything, take pictures of routing.

How many miles/kilometers? How much?

I will do :) been snowing today so not got round to looking yet at how engine comes out.

Not sure what you asking regarding mileage but

Van is 2008 and the engine in it has done 170 thousand miles. With the mileage I’m not even going to try fixing it just getting another one for it. Got couple in my eBay watch list for when money is there plan to do timing chain on engine I buy too so I know it’s been done plus full service.

I got the combo for £250 and I’m looking at around £500/£600 to get engine plus parts that was on mot advisory sheet. It’s worth around £1500 when full running so it will be cheap project for me plus it will get me from A to B. Plus insurance is pretty cheap compared to Vivaro van I have which is a 1.9 engine and costing £600 more for insurance

XR I’m currently looking to try get a used good rear shock rather than spending £350 on new one. As the new one is still pretty basic suspension and it won’t be much of upgrade to stock one so I might see about measuring it and see if I can possibly pick up a compatible one instead.

Going to do combo van this week hopefully if snow & rain stays away as need to send my engine code off to see which engine fits as well out ones I’m looking at plus I need to pick up engine lift to get engine out was going to borrow one but no doubt il need it again for something else so just gonna get my own

Should be fun year though starting driving in just over a week too

Half price with a little work, not bad !!
What I meant by miles is how worn out is the rest. 170 ain't bad.
If your emitions are like U.S. keeping track of what hose goes where is a job in itself.

Good luck with the projects !!

Ah right well engine looks to have been sitting a while as the general outside is pretty rusty although I was told it turns over. I will probably get some spares of it though for engine I put in. Need to get battery as well but will get one when engine done as I don’t really need one just now

Van is pretty good regarding body work etc inside is good too apart from needing a good clean

Gonna see too about alloys at some point as two front tyres are knackered anyway

Hopefully I manage to get some cash soon though as know a guy local who has one of the engines with 72k On it and he’s local too so would probably end up buying engine and transmission off him.

Gives me something to do though

Need to change the rear shock absorbers , two front struts , rear brake lines & front tyres for mot but the parts aren’t that expensive anyways

Think van was previously a electricians or highway maintenance van reason I think it may have higher mileage on it
