Pankz' First frame up build, yes...its another Blaster :)

It's on the airbox pictured, with the clamps you recommended.

Duh
I didn't look at the pics

I have a 34PJ, never used a 35pwk. either works

If you order new, use a reputable carb shop and get a tune you need right from the start ?
I like Carb Parts Warehouse in Ohio, should put in the parts listed below, at least the slide n needle ?

if buying used, or ordering new, for both carbs, we've found:

must haves >
#6 slide
needles...DGH for higher elevations, CEL for lower elev's

45 48 50 pilots
150 thru 162 mains
are the ranges that work for most, you'll need to tune and plug chop for your specific mods, temps and elevation

I've used a 34PJ and I've had a 35 or 36 ( I can't remember now) on a RM 125.

They both were good carbs, the only thing didn't like about the PJ is that the idle control is tied into the choke circuit. To the PWK has it's own separate idle screw. But all in all, they both got the job done. It was just something I wasn't fond of.

I'll second Awk's statement about carb parts warehouse. They are good people to deal with, and they have just about anything you could want carb related.

Sold on carb parts warehouse. I will give them a call.

So the #6 slide, is this the ticket for either a PJ or a PWK? Are the mains and pilots the same jets I have for the 38 pwks on my yz250? I already have 45 - 52 pilots on hand. I think the smallest main I have on hand is a 162.

So I guess I'll call and order a 35pwk, with a #6 slide, DGH and CEL needles, and the 150 range of jets. Sound right?

Thanks so much for the advise and opinions both of you.

Sounds right

And good call on Dirtys part about the idle screw difference, the PWK's are definitely better and easier.

Just picked up a package from Mr. Ken O'Connor. Oh yay! More pics coming...

Couple of questions.

Use the stock plug? Even with the 240 kits ported?

What are these parts for?

These get pressed in like a bushing? Flat side in, rounded side out?

Yeah those are for the mount.

You found it, the oil pipe holder! Why I didn't buy it. Ken sent that back

The other one isn't a pin, its a tiny rubber cap...maybe it was capping the oil pump before?

Oh that maybe the rubber cap off the carb when you do the oil delete?

Or maybe it was a cap for on the pump after the hose was removed?

It does indeed look like that cap on your carb. Bike had a 34mm Mikuni on it, and it stayed at home. Oil pump was still installed so I guess it was installed there.

Thanks for your help Mark!

Nice build going Pankz ! Love that frame color. Wait till you fire this baby up, you will be happy I am certain.

Referring to the reed cage etc.. Make sure to not overtighten as it is easy to do and can/will warp things and cause a leak. The yamabond will help with that though. The bushings go flat side out and u can tap them in with a hard rubber mallet.

Ohh yeah. Don't forget to leak test !! And re torque head after heat cycles ;)

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!

I installed my intake last night per recommendations, and torqued to spec. I bought a leak tester from awk08 but need to run out today to grab a plug. Stock plug for 240kit? When I picked this bike up it had a br9es.

I installed the pivot washers backwards. Lol. I just really figured the flatside should face the machined surface, and the smooth side towards the pivot pins. What is the reasoning for installing them the other way, I'll pop them out and flip them if need be.

On retorquing the head. How in the...?!?

Don't worry guys. When I read this I read cylinder. When I installed the motor I looked at those cylinder base bolts and wondered how the hell.

I am keen on re-tourquing the head bolts after my heat cycles ;)
