Pankz' First frame up build, yes...its another Blaster :)

Progress! Rear end has come together.

Lone Star Racing +2" round house swinger with carrier in silver metallic
RPM Dominator II +7" axle
Duncan Racing stainless axle locknut
New OEM brake and sprocket hubs
New OEM caliper
Speedlinez stainless brake line
DP stainless rotor
SunStar steel 40 tooth sprocket
TM Designworks chain roller kit
Maxxis Razer 2 20x11-9s

This bike came with stock axle hubs with brand new 6 paddle Skat Trak Haulers mounted on 8" aluminum rims. I do have lots of sand to ride in nearby, but have access to plenty of dirt as well. I noticed that wheel size was pretty limited on those stock hubs (WTH Yamaha, 110? why?) so I opted to buy a set of Raptor hubs with the 115mm bolt pattern. Bought the tires mounted on ITP 9" rims.

I received word last week that KOR finished up my motor and its on its way back to me. I am extremely excited!! It arrives on Thursday :) I'll make another update as soon as I open the crate.
 
You'll be happy with that rear end build, similar setup as I run down to the tires,
except +3 here.

Good to hear! Not entirely a coincidence. I'm mostly just doing what has been proven. Most of my research stems from this forum. You all have made this pretty simple to be honest.

Naw, just new. Pedal that came off the bike was painted black if I recall correctly. Don't know why some parts show up with different finishes. Bought a new kick starter as well and it's black. New shift lever looks the same as the pedal

Haha I didn't even look at the routing for that line, it's just temporary...wasnt sure how it should run yet. I will look through that thread though for sure.

I saw you have the same axle. I have the same nerf bars as well. We are just so limited for option s on this old bike.

Thanks on the frame color, my fiance picked it out so she gets the credit. I research, find my options, and let her pick the aesthetics...it is her bike afterall.

The intake solution.

I didn't take a real clear picture of what was happening before but I will describe it. Bike had a boyseen rad valve reed block, a 26mm boot stretched around a 34mm Mikuni with a DRY k&n filter hanging off the other end with no protection whatsoever. The carb was tilted nearly to 30° to keep it out of the clutch arms way. All with no attachment aside from that 26mm boot that has been stretched WAY beyond its limits.

Now I'm no rocket scientist, and I am somewhat new to getting my hands this dirty on these bikes. I may even have some stupid questions from time to time, but I knew that would all have to change no doubt.

Couple ?s for anyone that wants to chime in. Might as well ask here. The gaskets provided with the pro design and vforce4 products, are they OEM quality? Unable to read a brand, but can see they are all U.S. made. They appear to be quality but thought I'd ask.

Also, the order I have them pictured is correct? Should any product be applied to the gaskets? Manual doesn't appear to call for any, but I understand the likelihood of leaks here and the problems they impose.

All advise is welcomed.
 
The airbox and filter. Again you've all made this easy. Waiting to install till I have my carb hanging. I guess there's not a clear cut way of mounting it before I know it's position ;)

I used the gaskets that came with the VF4's. Ive also used some just run of the mill reed cage gaskets with no problems also.

Your question about applying something.... put a light coating of Yamabond on . It seals them up tighter than 10 toes in a sock.

Everything looks great so far boss. Great Job!

OK perfect. I will pick up some yamabond.

By light coat I guess you mean ample coverage, but not enough to seep in or out? Tips for application? I've never used this before.

Im a carpenter by trade, and familiar with applying lots of different products, but I suspect applying Yamabond is not like applying a tube of flooring adhesive. :)

Thanks. Motor comes tomorrow. I still need to buy a carb, pipe, and a-arms, but it is coming along nicely. I'm hoping to have her wrapped up and braaping soon!

Ok wow, there's several different yamabond products. Suggestions?

Update. I found a site with good descriptions of them all. Yamabond 4 looks like the answer?

have you found the silicon intakes boot for CFM to carb ?

I'm pretty sure mine is a 2.5" to 2.25" for cfm to 34mm, but double check that smaller carb side measurement, it's been a while.

LOL. I did! It's on the airbox pictured, with the clamps you recommended. I didnt list it as i forgot where i bought them. Very nice setup. Fit the 34 Mikuni like a sticky glove.

Plan to replace that carb with either a Keihin 34 pj or a 35 pwk, still unsure. You have a 34 right? Have you used the 35 before?
