A-arm skid plates

I've been looking for skid plates, and I can't figure out what I need for +3+1 Arms. Has anyone bought them? Or did you have to make your own?

made my own out of 3/16" aluminum diamond plate, but it already had the 1" bent lip on it when i aquired it.

used big rivets right into the shock mount cross member, been holding strong for the past 2 seasons

Very nice work Bronco Was thinking about this other day when I was looking into a arms. Any photos on how you mounted them to the arms?

Yeah I really Liked how you mounted those bronco! Did you use any kind of foam strip under the arms to prevent chatter noise?

No foam strip under the arms, its just a tight fit. I only used the 3 bolts that you can see, theres not much room on other side.

I was wondering the same thing about when I finally pull the trigger on arms. I can 3D model what I need at work but we don't have a way to bend other than heat and a hammer

Yeah I can also draw them up when i get my arms. Cutting them I would get mate to cnc cut them out. I know of 3 engineering shops that have benders in them and they are a 5 min drive away.

Started drawing up the lower A Arm up to I can design a skid plate out of aluminum that I will cnc cut and then get a company to bend it for me. Ordered my moun8ts to hold the skid plates on. Going to be using stainless P Clamps with rubber on them. Making them to fit +3 ASR Pro X-Series Long Travel Racing A-Arms

I will be uploading the cad file for the skid plates when I'm done if any one wants to make there on.

Will keep you all updated on this.

Got back onto this today. Started on the front part of the skid plate.

What option you like best or have you got any ideas I can try.

I used to have them on my Raptor:

I kinda found that they were mud collectors, especially when I was mired deep in mud.
I do get the odd stick up through my arms but it is rare and not a problem.
I found the under body plate to be more useful, and really liked the heel guards.
I am flattening my Blaster frame tubes from log jumping.

Anyone else feel the A arm guards tend to collect mud?

Steve

I'm not a fan of deep mud. So not worried about that. Mostly on trails, river beds and beach. I cannot remember having any problems in the past on my warrior and yfz450 for collecting mud or sand. I'm running full frame skid and swing arm skid.

Hope to get some aluminum tomorrow. Then I will finish up drawing and send it to mate for CNC cut. :)

Just a little update on this. Spent some time last night and tonight drawing. Still a little more to draw. Front lip will be bent up to a 90 degree and the end part on the front near hemi joint will be curved round and tig welded.
