Banshee Trade????

one of the guys i work with son has a banshee hes trying to sell. he looked at my blaster and hes pretty interested. straight up, no cash. only thing is, he said the wiring harness fried a few months back. he replaced the entire harness but now he says it needs an run switch on the bars. i asked if he tried to bypass it and he said you cant? does that sound right??? take a look and gimme your thoughts..........

ok, he just said it hasent run since november last year and the exhaust arced on the tailight causing it to fry the switch... (stinks!!!)

Your at a big risk by not being able to start it. It could be a cover to hide motor /trans problems. Even if it's not, you could still be dealing with burned out coil,CDI, stator.

its a toss up man, me personally i would do it and turn the banshee into a project, tear the wiring out and re wire everything from top to bottom but before i did i would pull the jugs off the banshee to check them out, if he has nothing to hide then he wont have a problem doing it since it hasnt ran since last november, comp test it, get a trans oil sample check it for metal shavings etc, it sounds too good to be true but if it has a title and u want a project go ahead and pull the trigger!
it could be something as small as a cdi, coil or the complete wiring on the bike is shot but even then its not too bad because ebay has them for sale a dime a dozen, if not one of the forums around he would have one for cheap im sure

I agree, banshee parts are a dime a dozen. I have some ignition parts left over.

grounding/shorting out any of the lighting wires, should have nothing to do with the ignition, at all.
seperate wires, seperate coils on the stator, seperate switches on the bars
plus the killswitch only grounds out the ignition to kill the motor, remove the switch or disconnect the wires and it will start, then just use the key as the killswitch, so it does not need the killswitch to start
i say he's bullshitting, but that doesn't mean it's a complete POS
he could just be covering for his inadequacies for trouble shooting

i'd definately at least do compression checks, and maybe give the reeds a look

i doubt anyone is gonna let you remove the cylinders, unless you're gonna replace the gaskets ??

im at least going to look at it tomorrow. im gonna check the things you mentioned. id love a banshee for a project but i also need a Solid project.
