Aside from the problems its having with it needing new tranny seals, How the heck is this possible?? Its cool though!

A Blaster going backwards..

the flywheel key sheared... when the flywheel key shears it throws off the timing bigtime so usually you won't get it to actually start. it just so happens that in this occasion it got started but you can tell te blaster doesn't like it AT ALL. good way to kill it since the timing is off so bad.
oh, but that doesn't really explain (to me) how its going backwards? i still have yet to know all of blaster info and their tendencies..
there is instances where in diesel engines where something electrical shorted and the vehicle actually started in reverse rotation. I would think it's possible this one was push started backwards. I've heard of stranger things.
Which ever way the crankshaft revolves the piston still goes up and down, and the two strokes are completed.
If the flywheel key has stripped and the timing has gone into extreme advance, when you kicked it it has kicked back in the reverse direction, it has everything it needs to run, with a retarded spark.
It is not a good idea to run the motor under this condition.
This is not as unusual as you may think, I have witnessed 2 strokes with +5 deg advance do it a few times, but there again I have been around a long time.

I work in a diesel repair shop and I've never heard of this ever happening to one. Not sayin its not possible, I'll just have to check with the vets at my shop who've been in this biz a lot longer than I have..I'm sure they'd know if its happend before.
When europe still built 2 stroke cars for daily drivers, many of them propelled the car in reverse with by running the motor backwards. The way they did this, is through the key. If you turned the key to start like normal, car would start and run forward normal. Turn the key the opposite of the normal start direction and the same distance, and the engine would start turning bawwards, this allowing reverse without a whole gear devoted to it. Kinda funny thing was you could do top speed in reverse this way because in reverse, you still used the regular gearbox. Sounds like some great pasture fun to me. lol
If the engine was running reverse rotation it wouldn't be smoking from the exhaust it would be smoking from the carb, and running on oil from the tail pipe. Right?
Not unless the ports have migrated, the piston dont care which way the crank revolves as long as it goes up and down.
I've heard of it a few times, mostly older tractors. My dad was in the army in the original desert storm when his unit was testing some of the new diesel hummers, said he jumped in it started it and threw it in gear and it went into the one behind him. so idk, like i said i've heard stories. But i've seen two strokes do what that blaster was doing.
The engine would run the same, since the piston is still going up and down and still pulling fuel from carb and exhausting through he pipe. Only change is the way the crank gear turns, thus reversing every other gear its connected too.
The old detroits would do it if you bog them down low enough and get a kick back. Repairs become a scavenger hunt after that.
all ski-doo and newer arctic cat sleds when put in reverse shut down the engine and fire back up in reverse
na it doesnt have anything to do with the key shearin, the blaster motor actually starts in reverse.. "normally" for lack of a better word. its jus a simple 2 stroke, what makes this possible is the placement of the magnet in relation to the armature, or primary n secondary coils on the magneto. n actually runnin the motor backwards like that wouldnt b a problem other the oil pump mainly, but also when a bearings run in a certain direction all its life n also when a force has been put on a shaft and bearing for an extended amount of time in a general direction then its alternated to a different direction it has alot more potential of wearing things out faster. but like u said it doesnt like it at all youll b weldin rings in no time!
Old golf karts with two strokes ran the motor forward to go forward then ran the motor backwards for reverse. My uncles built a 250R trike with an IT250 motor and a Honda 185S frame and used the Honda CDI. The funny thing is is that it would run just as good backwards as it did forwards. They always liked it off, pulled the clutch, dropped it in first, ad eased off to see what way the motor was turnin. If they started going backwards they'd kill it an try again. They said there's been a MANY of their buddies an people who wanted to ride it (cause it put a T3 to SHAME!!!) that tried to act like hardasses and tried dumpin the clutch just to get thrown back over the bars lmao
Also, old 2-stroke Detroits would do it. The driver would back up to like a loading dock or something and hit it loading up the drive line (and you gotta think since your holding the clutch and brake that energy gets stored) and then when they went to let out the clutch it would pop the motor and make it fire up backwards.
In the sixties there was a Russian 250 two stroke kit bike called a Cossack.
It was notorious for starting in reverse, and gave you a mild heart attack when dropping the clutch.

SO WE HAVE THE NEW TO US 92 BLASTER
when kicking it spins CCW and the arrow on the flywheel points that direction
we can start it but it spins backwards once it starts " filmed with cellphone in super slow motion to verify
we have amazon kit to replace all electronics since we didn't have most of them
again it runs but backwards
we eyeballed the stator plate clocking when we installed it the old one had the wires cut
it was near center of the track the screw can glide
i went full ccw to retard timing
same result then full advance same issue
please send ideas
