so I decided to buy a k&n air filter because I wanted to take the air box off of my 80 and when I was taking the air box off there's a little hose connecting to it coming from a little box on the frame that goes to another hose in to the engine ? I'm imaging it's just a excess oil or something tube .
does someone know what it is and if it's bad to leave it hanging or anything ? thanks

I would think that it's a crank case vent. Box may be pcv valve, Positive Crankcase Ventilation.
Look to see what they call it on parts list.

You do realize you may have to rejet.?

do you know if I can just un do the box and point it down towards the ground like other bikes ?
and no I did not but I had already bought I richer jet bc I have a yoshimura pipe on it right now and it's running really lean

Wether 2s or 4s more air in or out needs more fuel to go with it.
If the breather tube is attached to head or crankcase you will have to route it below and behind the engine, no dips/low spots to avoid oil collecting in hose and blocking it. Do not use that box.

Disclaimer !! I have no control of the vent working or not, it's all on YOU !!
