Won't shift out of first

Just bought a 98 blaster, starts right up but I can't change into any other gear or into neutral. Any information on how to fix this would be much appreciated.

Pull the clutch cover and the entire clutch pack off, to get a good look at the shift star, and shift shaft/pawl action with the star.

We've also seen aftermarket trans oil drain plugs be too long and interfere with the shift drum inside.

Downloading the service manual would be a good idea.....

I pulled it off and the star has one point broken off but the shift shaft/paw isn't catching when you go to shift to second.

it is not broke it is made like that
unless there is two points that appear broken off
something got bent worn out
or someone put it back together wrong.
got pics of it or has anyone taken it apart further?

Ok, none of the other points are broken. I have gotten any pics. I'll try to take some later.

You really should check the drain plug like awk mentioned
it happens alot people buy aftermarket drain plug and it causes the blaster to not shift
