Wall-E Robot

Some of you will know that I was starting a robot build. 85% scale version of Wall-E.

Parts for making his eyes. Thanks o Dirtysquared for getting the parts for me.

NPC-2212 motors. Also got the mounting bolts for them.

Original plan was to use conveyor belt for the track drive but got send a video of the chin setup so have gone with that.

Drawn up the tread plates. Cut out of 1.6mm thick steel.

I have ordered the sprockets.

I have drawn 90% of the file for the rubber treads. Should have drawing finished this weekend.

Will have the sprockets and small roller chain in about 7 days. Ordered the keyed shaft for the axles tonight and on the hunt for bearings for the axles at the moment.

Sanded all the edges smooth on the steel plates today and got both tracks bolted together. Just waiting on my connecting links that should be here Monday. Also got my #35 sprockets and roller chain yesterday.

Ready to bolt together.

Bolting starts.

All done. 2 of them all bolted together comes to a total of 256 bolts and nuts.

Also got all the plans printed on A3 and put in a clear file.

Should have some more done on it start of next week.

Got the #60 sprockets and connecting links today.

Keyed shaft will be here in a week. Looking into bearings and steel next. Need 12 bearings 1/2" ID and 4 bearings 5/8" ID.

#35 sprockets fit onto NPC-2212 motor.

Both tracks made with connecting links. Green tape to mark connecting link plate.

Sprockets.

Made a short bit of track out of the left overs to use for testing and for measuring when Im building the bearing holders and sprocket hubs.

Time to start drawing up some CAD drawings of parts.

Today and the last 3 nights after work I have been building a work bench for in the shed. Will post photos of it when done. Will be used to store tools and bits in and have my new machine on the top. Going to be very handy for the Wall-E build.

The last week and a bit I have been building a new work bench/cupboard. Got my new lathe and gear also.

Christmas has come early.

Still have to install 3 handles on the lathe and clean/oil it.
