So I have a 2000's Blaster (Not that it matters, they're basically all the same lol) and I want to upgrade the suspension. Just to do it lol, I have Banshee oil shocks bookmarked for the front, everyone says Banshee shocks mount right in and are a decent upgrade, and they recommend 400EX rear shock. Problem is, I can't find one anywhere, but I did manage to find a TRX450 rear shock, which the 400EX ers recommend as an upgrade for 400EX's. So would it fit in or should I continue the hunt for a 400EX rear shock? Thanks!

Ebay is best place for 400EX shocks. Got my rear shock off there. Make that 2 rear shocks I got from there because one got damaged in shipping and they sent a replacement.

Get the 400EX bush kit from KOR. NOT the one on ebay as it is aluminum and cannot be tack welded to the frame to keep them in place.

This is before I cleaned is and changed colour of spring.

Ltz400 or lt400 suzuki quad rear shocks are the same as 400ex thats what im running. The 450r shock fits but the reservoir is off to the side and hits a tab on the frame and the rear plastic the 400ex rear shock and ltz400s reservoir is centered so you dont have that problem. Yfz450 rear shocks fit too and are probably better then all above

Hmm, I watched some vids and it seems the bike requires a decent amount of modification for it to fit. I'm probably gonna keep the stock rear shock, the bike has barely been ridden by the previous owner and it's plenty for me. Fronts however I may or may not, kind of debating it. Do new fronts really make a difference or do you find stock to be good enough?

400EX shock is easy to fit and and only modification you need to do is drill the lower shock mount on the shock to 12mm. Install the shock using the bushes kit that includes the longer bolt from KOR and use the stock pin in the lower shock k mount on the swing arm. 30min job at most.

I welded mine in but you don't have to as they are a press fit.

I might consider doing it, I'd like to do a custom look eventually so new shocks and springs is a must lol. By the way, I just finished looking at the thread of your Blaster build. Frickin' awesome man! Good luck with everything! Oh PS, I plan on doing it to mine when I paint it, clear bedliner. Supposedly it is extremely tough (Would make sense since it's bedliner lol). Could preserve that awesome paint job you have. I'd test it out on some metal to make sure it's totally clear first though lol.

Okay, so would a Banshee rear shock fit? If not, what kind of mods would I have to do, these shocks are the exact look I'm looking for. Thanks!

Really? Wow, didn't know it was that much shorter. Specs say Banshee is at 14.75 inches and Blaster is at 15.5. If it really is that much shorter I'm gonna just try my luck with the 450 rear shock. I'd just rather not have to do any modifying, I'm lazy lol.

Ah, I see. Could I rig something up? It looks like I could mount the linkage to the original rear shock mount and maybe fabricate something further up on the swingarm? It seems like no one has done it on a Blaster so that could be cool. Haha

Rather than drill out 1 hole & use a better shock?

I thought you were lazy?!

How much you wanting to spend? I payed $72 for mine.

Dont be lazy and spend 10 mins cleaning the shock and it will look like new again.

Anywhere under 150 would be fine, but I have to wait until next month for some money lol. But thanks, I didn't think Ebay would have any good ones. Hopefully I can find more black springs to match the fronts, could paint them too I guess haha.
