I need some ideas on how to fabricate a piston stop to use with the head off for setting up a degree wheel. Also to measure amount piston sticks above cylinder AFTER I remove 3mil spacer plate.

I also plan to make a thread later on how much difference in timing with and without the plate. Also to explain why I'm doing it.

Just get a piece of say 1/2 x 1/2 metal, drill 2 holes in it on each end. One to fit over one of the head studs, the other to insert any size bolt and nut. 1/4-20 is fine there. Mount it to one of the studs and use a nut to lock into place. Might have to shim it up with a washer to get tdc depending on how much the piston comes out of the jug (stud side). Then use the 1/4-20 side and find tdc by rotating the crank and setting the 1/4-20 bolt/nut to stop it at tdc. Once you find it lock the nut in on the 1/4-20 and voila you have what you need.
