I'm relatively new with 2 stroke machines. I plan to add led light bar. I have purchased a reg/rec but everything I have read says " float the ground " . I don't know what that means. I'm sure I could guess but I'd rather just be sure. Any insight? Or a step by step ?

that appears to be correct above, both yellows of the reg/rec go to the lighting coil

as it is now, one wire of the lighting coil is grounded to the stator plate,
you have to "float it" to one of the yellows.

LOL.

Your lighting coil ground has to be removed and connected to you REG/REC.

Your lighting coil ground is on the left of the lighting coil and is grounded to the left bolt that holds you coil to the stator plate!

Here is what mine looks like when it was finished. The extra yellow wire that is coming from my stator was my ground but now is floated to my REG/REC.

Thanks. This makes sense now. Remove the ground and attach it to the reg/rec.

It's pretty easy to do once you get in there and see the stator . Solder and shrink wrap like Larry said . I used 14 gauge wire when I did mine .

I bought a AGM atv battery from autozone . Part number AZX 5-L . It was like $80 bucks . Fits nice in the tool compartment of the air box . Cut up some foam or a sponge and line the battery tray so the battery doesn't move around .

You got a 4 wire, thats a little different then the one i have.

I im guessing? lol

The 2 yellows go to stator.
Black goes to battery ground.
Red goes to battery hot.

Lights ground goes to battery ground.
Lights hot go to a switch and switch goes to battery hot.
