Hello. Have a 99 blaster, had it since new. Recently it was idling and all of a sudden it killed. Shattered the idle and the small 2 inch gear on the clutch basket. It would appear the kick start engaged while it was running but nobody was even on the machine. Any ideas why this would happen? Also, anyone have these parts for sale? It appears you have to replace the whole basket as I cannot find just the small gear. Thanks and have a great day!

Use bikebandit.com they sell genuine OEM products, and you can buy the exact part you need. I've saved you the grunt work and put in your '99 Blaster. All you have to do is find what part you need.

Thanks. I have found the part new but not really wanting to spend 150 plus on a new basket for a 500 dollar machine. Someone has to have an extra laying around they could sell me.
Just find someone with an old wore out basket and there is ways to fix them without replacing the large gear but you will need a donor basket.
Most likely the spring broke on the kick start allowing it to engage. Compare the diagram on Bike bandit to what's left of your spring.
