Hey,I have a 2003 blaster and it wouldn't run so I changed the stator because I thought that was it,but it turns out it was low compression,so I rebuilt it,when I fired it up it revved really high because the head gasket was leaking,so I replaced the copper head gasket and now it won't start and will only backfire, any ideas?

Backfiring is usually a sign of bad reed, or woodruff key sheared off...causing it to go out of time.

Check that out, and see if its either of those.

If the head gasket was leaking, may pay to do a leak down test to make sure you don't have any hidden airleaks that will cause you problems.

Is the TORS Brain unplugged ?? Under hood, 3 wire box. Unplug it no matter what, it WILL cause problems sooner or later, ask me how I know

Thanks for the help guys,it was a mixture of carb problems and a weak spark plugs, the thing rips now, thanks
