A-frame/ball joint question

So we're out riding, day 1 with the new (very used) Blaster, and the nut sitting on top of the ball joint falls off. No surprise that the bike stopped quickly.

The threads are pretty mangled, and the nut wouldn't go back on. I pulled a lug nut off, but couldn't get it to thread on. Assuming it's the right thread count, then I assume the ball joint threads are pretty shot.

So here's the question: Can I replace just the ball joint, or do I have to replace the whole a-frame piece?? I looked in the FSM but it wasn't real clear to me. I'm gonna try a thread chaser on it, but I'm looking for replacement parts as well. It's my son's, and I want it back running and rideable quickly.

Thanks a bunch!!

The ball joint is welded to the a arm on a stock setup. You have to replace the whole arm. I needed a boot for the ball joint, and I had to find someone with a junk arm just to get a damn boot!

^ agree .. must replace whole A-arm .

ftl900 .. You can find them pretty cheap on Ebay if you dont want to buy new.

Good luckI:I
