I have a fresh stock top end with milled head to get 165 to 170 cranking compression
28mm OKO carb (new) w spacer and reeds
no airbox lid
Big adjustable pipe w silencer freshly packed
152 main
middle clip
45 pilot
air screw 1.5 turns out
Summer air temps in Wis.
32 to 1
starts easily takes a little warm up driving to get feeling good
top end is good until u hold it wide open a few swconds and then she bogs
Plug looks darkish and the edge of the electrode is shiny a little (not good I know but doesnt appear to be lean or piston material but?)
What jets do u think I SHOULD BE running? It does not smoke much if at all, I am thinking richer maybe on the 152 main maybe?
Br8es plug
it could be crisper off the bottom also by the way so pilot size?
Ugg, this is my kids quad and I nees it to be reliable when we go up north and the high rpm bog and plug electrode edge is scary
thanks for your hopefully quick responses guys

in this order.............

make sure the float height is correct ?

the airscrew will tell you what pilot is required....
http://www.blasterforum.com/threads/adjusting-your-airscrew-pilot-jet.51060/

what needle is being used ?
you can do 1/2 throttle plug chops to see where you're at

plug chops will tell you what main jet to use....

look thru this thread for others running 28mm Keihins, PWK's or OKO's to see what they're running.

thats an LRD adjustable pipe you have, it liked a 330 main in the stock mikuni carb when I had one, where most other pipes liked 290/300's
so it likes a little more fuel than say an FMF < for reference when searching that thread.

Wow! Nice thanks, I have not yet read the links but I will. The OKO 28 is new and the needle is what it came with. I swapped the jets out from my 30mm oko, see this thing used to be a 240, now back to stock so I went w a 28 and my old 30 was/is worn on slide anyway. I did not switch needles. But for kicks what size jets do u think it should have? Nice looking pipe but prob better when a 240 w the 30.... Elkas all around w a a rms and swingarm
I have two full suspension Blasters the other has stock carb/runs great w full exhaust/intake/compression (that 1 we reshaped the head, this one I just milled it)
I will read your links but wanted to answer the needle question

The reason I ask is I have the carb open now and could easily make a change before I do the air screw then chops (yes I read the links) I wonder what main if a Mikuni is "330" w lrd? GREAT links

as far as I know there is no direct conversion chart for mikuni to keihin jets, but can tell you from experience keihin 150-ish jets run the same bike/mods as 300-ish mikuni jets

I've never had a 28mm, but think I remember some JJA or JJ sumthin needle being mentioned for those carbs ?
the 34/35/36 keihins like a DGH or CEL needle.

call the guy at carb parts warehouse and see what he suggest for needle and jetting. he's who helped us figure out the needle for the 34+ carbs
http://www.carbparts.com/
maybe have your info ready to order from him, I did :)

I would start with a 160 main with that pipe and plug chop . I run a 155 main and 45 pilot with an FMF pipe . JJH needle second clip . I would start with the clip in the middle with your pipe .
