01 kickstarter

So I'm having trouble with th kickstarter I put it in correctly after putting in a new clutch , tested it before I put the cover back on and once the cover is on and torqued the kickstarter willl not spring back up this has happen 2 times not sure what's goin on?

Pull clutch cover back off replace spring , clean side cover hole that starter shaft comes through and polish the shaft. Make sure thrust washers in place at the correct positionsPeace ,see online diagrams for parts locations

Be sure to get new outer dust seal for side cover to keep out dirt out

As long as the spring is in the correct hole, the plastic bushing in the center is seated correctly and the bottom is in both grooves it should work correctly. I would take it apart and double check how you have it. I have never seen one of those springs go bad.

Mine had dirt get by dust seal which caused aluminum pieces between shaft and case . This caused drag and sticking of the kickstarter

Ended up being the spring popped off of the bottom of the white bearing got it fixed thanks
