    Bottom End Rebuild

just wondering what everyone uses to clean up the combustion chamber on the head. I have a hardcore baked on exhaust splooge. Worse than any other ive seen. Probably like 2mm thick. I was thinking a demel with a real soft bit might work. Carb cleaner, brake cleaner, wire brushes are just not...

    Bottom End Rebuild

I got these cases apart and let me say with the right tools, It is a lot easier than I thought. I have a couple questions.. first, does anyone on here use yamabond 5 as a case half sealer. I have 2 unopened tubes of it, and after buying it, someone told me to use yamabond 4. The 5 does say for...

    Bottom End Rebuild

I'm planning on rebuilding the bottom end on my blaster in the upcoming couple weeks. It was just done like maybe 2 years ago, but I have a ton of hours on it. Nothings locked up or shattered and it still runs, just has a minor amount of play in the one crank bearing and only like 80 psi. So...

    Need info about 225dx trike!!!

okay so I got this head all apart, and the first thing that I noticed is that the valve that is in there is not broken. This is the exhaust valve that this kid replaced. The valve seems to have a lot less resistance than the intake valve when spinning the cam with a wrench, but it does fully...

    Need info about 225dx trike!!!

okay. I got this thing torn apart, at least got the head off. The intake valve doesn't completely shut. It does move as i move the cam, but just does not shut all the way. Anyways it took a very small knick out of the top of the brand new piston this thing has in it. The knick is probably 2 or 3...

    Need info about 225dx trike!!!

I know it's not a blaster, but at least it's still a yamaha. Anyways, I bought a 1984 225dx on impulse for $180. It's in decent shape and almost everything is there it looks like. It does have a broken valve though, or at least according to the guy I bought it off of. I know it's shaft driven...

    Bottom End Rebuild

Yeah I guess i'll just stop riding it. I was gonna try to get like 10 more hours which is like 2 months of riding for me out of the top end before rebuilding it, but if the crank bearings are bad, might as well do it now i guess before i do any major damage. Oh and as far as beating the old...

    Bottom End Rebuild

Does anyone think I should continue riding this thing? I have like 100ish lbs of compression, but I can feel a very very slight movement in the stator. Like i'm talking barely any movement. It runs fine and the plug shows it's not running lean. And then my second question. I have an extra...

    Bottom End Rebuild

I have a couple questions reguarding the crank bearings in my 01 Blaster. I have been hearing a sort of very light knock in my motor for some time now. It is pretty noticible at idle, but either goes away or gets drowned out at idle. I have a very small amount of movement up and down in the...

    Spark Problems

Well it does look like sheared off the keyway that lines the stator up on the crank. Wouldn't that require a new crank then? That would be excellent news if it was not part of the crank seeing that crank is only like a 6 month old hotrods crank.

    Spark Problems

Well I just so happened to pick up a parts blaster basically for free earlier in the week, and it's source coil tested good so I began to swap stators. I tear mine on the quad all apart and there was rust everyehere. On the coils, the stator plate, and the inside of the flywheel. Probably could...

    Spark Problems

After doing some more testing, the source coil is still failing the resistance test at 0 ohms according to the service manual, but the feed wire to the coil (orange one) shows about 2 or 3 AC volts when I kick over the motor. I assume that this means everything up to the coil is working fine if...

    Spark Problems

So my blaster has been sitting outside in the 20 degree weather for the last minth. I pulled it in the garage last night to warm up, and it has no spark. My wiring is a nightmare becuase someone eliminated the key and rigged up aftermarket headlights. Anyways, I'm following my service manual...

    Pics of my KTM rebuild

So last winter i picked up this 1990 KTM 250mx for $200. It did not run, and needed some minor work. The motor was solid and all I had to do was clean the stator plate and replace a crank seal and she was up and running. I just recently got some newer (used) plastics, cleaned the hell out of...

Anyone familiar with raptor 350 engine??

Hey guys Im doing a base gasket for a friend on his 05ish raptor 350. his gasket cracked and oil started spewing out by the base gasket. I have all the motor bolts out and covers off, but can't get the timing chain off. There is a 17mm bolt holding the gear on, but when I turn it, I just spin...

    EMGO front brake shoes

So I got these front brake shoes from ebay. They are grooved EMGO shoes. The springs from the stock brakes will not fit into the pad. It's like one end of the spring needs to be bent the other way for it to fit. the shoes are the exact same as what im pulling off except where the spring...

    Clutch Help

I cracked my clutch basket last week and got my new (used) clutch in the mail today. Well I put it on and everything was fine until I grabbed a hold of the clutch basket. I can turn it a wee little bit, and it moves but not the gear that is on the back of the basket. It just moves a little...

    Clutch Problems

I took the clutch basket off and the input shaft dosent appear to be bent when I spin it. Maybe the used clutch basket I bought is somehow out of round? Could that be possible? I would think its pretty hard to bend that input shaft b/c it looks like a pretty substantial piece of metal.

    Clutch Problems

Just a couple weeks ago I shattered a clutch basket which locked up the motor at full throttle. I got my new used parts and put them on. My clutch assembly moves up and down a little bit if I spin it. Will this hurt anything?? Is it possible to have bent the main axle that comes out and holds...
