when starting a 2 stroke pre-mix dont use oil it has a tendency to flash and burn the oil into the crosshatch and makes it very hard for the rings to seat, when your bike sits for along time do you disassemble it and oil it the first time you start it? didn't think so

oil is not required nor should it be used to assemble a 2 stroke, it sounds like you have installed the piston with the ring end gap not on the pin, you are gonna have to yank it off make sure the arrow is facing forward and get the rings right, if you need to stand on the kicker something is wrong.
