Been going through my blaster lately & was wondering if there's anything I can do to check the bottom end without taking the top end off? Heard if the flywheel moves the bearings are shot? Any ideas appreciated

    Holes in exhaust

I have the stock exhaust and where the pipe meets the motor, follow the exhaust about 12 inches and I have a hole about the size of an auxiliary cord, a little oil stain coming out of it. Will the hole affect performance/jetting in any way? & is the oil normal in that part or could I have a seal...

    Intake boot

The intake boot on my blaster has a liiittle little crack on the bottom of it, do you think I could use gasket sealant & seal it up? It does not leak but I don't wanna wait for the day it starts.. thanks

    Jetting

Yeah that makes sense, I have some permatex black, anything bad about that? Only thing they had at the hardware store. says "oil resistant" on box, temps up to 500F. Used it on the intake gasket, should I get threebond for the base gasket? Or do you think what I have now would work? I gotta pick...

    Jetting

Alright didn't know if they were stock or not, bought the blaster a year back. & just redid the gasket on the inner side of the reed cage, got another gasket for the outside as well. Do you know if the base gasket & the clutch gasket need glue?

    Jetting for temperature

Yup stock everything other than injection blockoff, the manual I got with the reeds says I should drop 1-3 sizes & they tend to make the bike richer.. There boyeson 630 power reeds & I'd just throw them on the stock cage as well, that's what the manual pictured was the stock cage. I have also...

    Jetting for temperature

Hey all, I have a yamaha blaster stock 230 main jet, stock 32.5 pilot, only about 100 feet above sea level.. I want to know if the average temperature drops about 50F degrees fahrenheit(80-30), how many jet sizes will I have to reduce to compensate(cold air is denser meaning less air meaning I...

    Jetting

Yeah that makes sense to start out richer & work my way toward lean, thanks.. how much does temperature affect jetting? Like how many sizes would I have to change for a 50 degree difference (Avg. 80 summer 30 winter?) Also what kind of gasket glue do you use, do you use one type on all gaskets...

    Jetting

Hey all, I know you can't just tell me where I need to be jetted and have it perfect but I just need a base line of like two or three sizes to get and go by. I ordered boyeson 630 power reeds for my stock cage, & would like to pull the airbox lid as well, also thinking about a uni filter. I'm...

    Carb leaking

Hello all, I have a 2001 blaster that's leaking gas out of overflow. Seems to fill up with gas while riding and cause an over rich mixture and causes me to bog on the top end of the throttle. The float does not fill up with gas but where the tab connects with the plastic, has a bit of a...

Runs better with air box lid off

Well definitely had a difference in power, but top end of gears still bog a bit and still have some gas coming out of overflow but not nearly as much. Now to pull the carb again and adjust a bit higher, just love playing this game! Lol :) So I re adjusted higher, muuch better difference in...

Runs better with air box lid off

Actually I measured wrong. My tape measure has 32 little lines between every inch and I was thinking they were mm.. My mistake. Carb is actually 28 mm and my float was waay off like 18mm.. Just adjusted to 21.5-22 mm and about to give her a go, I'll get back with the results

Runs better with air box lid off

Sorry I have not been on in a while, thank you for the replies. Well I've ordered a carb rebuild kit and the hanging rpm' was caused by the needle worn out and sticking open and letting too much gas in. Now I still have top end bogging and gas coming out of overflow. I was told my carb is stock...

Runs better with air box lid off

I have an 01 blaster, I've been trying to figure out a cause to bogging and slow return to idle after throttle blip. When I remove my air box lid I do not bog at all, which means I shouldn't have an an air leak, right? I've replaced throttle cable, cleaned carb many times, adjusted float and...

Bog when wide open only and slow return to idle after rev

Well I got a new cable, only helped a little bit.. When I take my air box lid off it doesn't bog at all, with lid on it does. Would there be a cause for that and is it safe to run like that if it runs better without? I only have the stock 230 main with 32.5 pilot. Also could my throttle slide be...

Bog when wide open only and slow return to idle after rev

Well I looked at the wires and the tors box on the front next to cdi is unplugged and so is the plug coming from the top of the carb, so the tors is disconnected but the box is still on top of the carb.. Idle screw still works also, can keeping that box while tors is off cause additional...
