    kx500 powered blaster

Ken, I try to keep the front end relatively light, about 1-2" higher than the rear (static). Set your rear shock fast on compression, slow on rebound. Crank the preload up on the right front (remember you won't have a lot of weight on it anyway. Set the tires with a little 10-20mm toe out...

    kx500 powered blaster

I like that too, but I have a sway bar there. I have one radiator on the left side of the engine, and I'm putting the second under the left rear fender. I also ordered a set of dual core radiators (kx500) to replace the stock. Have to wait and see what happens this weekend when we race it...

    kx500 powered blaster

This is my son racing in the pro-1 class at Big Lake Alaska. He started to overheat about half way through the race so he lost some power. I originally only put one radiator on the quad because there really isn't a good place to put a second one and I thought I could get away with only one...

    Cr500 into blasty frame?!?

I have a KX500 l.c. powered Blaster. It is an absolute beast. It's set up for ice racing, flat track only. I run the SMS +5, +1 a-arms, a +2 Banshee axle, custom +4 swinger, 400ex rear shock (mounts relocated to lower quad), YFZ450 front shocks (w/lowering brackets) and Fasst Flexx bars to...

    bbk 72-20?

Yeah, that's your engine. It ripped all winter long on the ice. My son only lost two races. One he ran out of gas (his fault) and the other, he lost to a bbk raptor (he had beat that machine before, but it just wasn't his day). He dominated the 450s all winter and even finished ahead of most...

    bbk 72-20?

i have a vitos bbk. The piston failed, but everything else looks good. The casting mark on the bottom of the piston is: 72-20. The cylinder mics out at 72 and the old piston approximately 71.5. What is the -20 mean? I want to make sure I buy the right piston. Thanks, kp

    Race Video Dade City MX

Nice Job, I love to watch the 2 strokes run up front. My Son races a Blaster too, unfortunately He's had multiple injuries this year (concussion, broken arm, sprained MCL and now a broken femur). I've been using the down time to work on the Blasty. We'll be back better that ever next year...

I made a Blaster specific gearing calculator

The calculator is spot-on from my observations. My Son tops out at 44.5 mph according to GPS. Using this calculator, 14/40 18" tires shows the same top speed. It's nice to know he's getting top speed on the straight away. Thanks for a great tool.

    who uses there clutch ?

I only use a clutch for taking off and drag it in and coming out of corners when necessary. I blip the throttle when I shift and pound the crap out of all my machines. After all they're just machines and if they're not going fast and winning races, it's time for an upgrade!

stupid ish 2 stroke smell question

There's nothing better than the sweet smell of Amsoil Dominator on a Sunday Morning. 50:1 shaken, not stirred (of course). I'm just wondering why anyone in Florida would need a snowblower?

installing freshly bored cylinder and new piston

The first top-end I did, I put the piston in backwards. A very expensive mistake. Make sure you can see the intake ports on the piston through the intake!

    How to install a cylinder.

Thanks Ken. My first top-end cost me a cylinder and piston (aluminum cylinder), yes I put it in backwards. If the piston has an arrow marked on it, it points towards the EXHAUST. Who would've know...

    Carburator Boring

I have a pretty much stock Blaster. Running a Toomey B-1 pipe, forged piston and vitos clutch. I'm doing a home P&P based on Ken O'Connors DIY. I'm also going to do the intake (I've done P&P before with good results). I'm kinda Just tinkering this year since my rider (Son) broke his arm and...

    Snyder Motor Sports +5, +1 A-arms

Thanks for the input. I bought a set from revin-it02 (thanks bro). Haven't figured out the shock part of the equation yet, but I have a YFZ450 in the shop that's a little less busted up than I am with a set of i-shocks that I may use. I'll let you all know how it works. I passed on the PEPs...

    +3 swingarm

I used to run non-O ring, but we lost a chain during a race and now switched to X-ring for reliability. Yeah, probably should have a better maintenance schedule for the chain but I DID oil it every race.
