Hey all. I'm looking for my first ATV and a blaster seems perfect. I considered a TRX200 but I think I'll have more fun with the 2 stroke blaster. I like how easy to work on it looks. I'm 5'10 140 and from what I understand blaster will carry me alright.

I have $1000 to spend, budget is tight right now but from what I've read that should be enough to get something running and reliable.

I've also considered buying something with a problem and fixing it. That brings me to this:

If I could get a good enough price on it, how big of a risk is this? Do you advise fixing up something broken for cheap, or just spending more and trying to find something that is ready to go? That seems like it would be easier but I don't want to turn down a great deal.

I made a post in the wanted section as well, in case someone is local and has a reliable machine within my budget.

Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it.

Add deleted already . Diirt is right up to a point. It depends on your ability and confidence in yourself. Unless a smoking deal in my area $800 seems to be the minimum amount before they need lots of love and $$$.

You'll love the Blaster. Light, peppy even stock, easy and relatively cheap to hop up. While the Honda is reliable as a rock, it's about as fast. Not saying that the Blaster can't be. It all depends on maintenance. Even a fresh bore and piston I consider as maintenance.

Picked mine up for $400. Really only "needed" a rear master cylinder and the front brakes bled, but I had decided from the start I was going to do a full build on it, so I didn't care. $6-800 in my area will get you a decent running Blaster.
