So I recently made a very large and dumb mistake. I've posted before about oil leaking from around my gear shifter and I kinda forgot about because it sat for around two week. So basically I forgot to check my oil before riding and my transmission locked up on me because it had all drained out. My question is would it be cheaper/easier to rebuild the transmission or just find a new transmission and replace it?

I'd think the clutch would lock up before the actual gears ? unless bearings locked up ?
get the clutch discs pulled out and see if it'll spin freely in gear, and/or change gears while spinning the tires (jack up back end)

After further investigation the transmission didn't lock up it was the actual motor. We couldn't kick it so we took off the side caber and hand turned the crank with a ratchet. We freed it up and dripped some two cycle oil down the shaft kicked it again hoping it would turn over and it locked up again. I'm thinking a seal broke on the piston
