First Blaster

Ive already replaced my rear carrier bearings with a kit from all balls. Now I got a pivot works bearing kit to do both front wheels, new ebc front brakes, and a 400ex rear shock on the way. Planning to do banshee front shocks, also want to redo all the tie rod ends and ball joints in the front as well as the swingarm bearings. I plan for this blaster to be basically brand new when I finish.

got the Banshee front shocks installed. Also installing new headlights. Factory light was missing when I got it and I like the look of these better anyway. May have to get a new headlight switch, still testing. I'm gonna install the 400ex rear shock this afternoon when the KOR bushing kit gets here. More pics later.

bushings arrived late. Got the 400 ex rear shock mounted tonight. The Banshee and 400ex shocks are also a cosmetic upgrade to my ugly stock yellow shocks.

Took the blaster and my son's PW80 out and rode some on a friend's property. First real test of the new shocks. Rides so much better. The banshee and 400ex shocks were such a great budget upgrade, very pleased. Also first ride since installing my new front brake cables. Great to finally have front brakes. Been riding with rears only up until now. Great ride today, lots of fun.

Raised the handlebars up about an inch. Looks and feels better. Got the idea from a thread here. Used a second set of bar clamps turned upside down with longer bolts. Need to redo my plastics soon and get my new bumper and nerf bars. Also gonna do control arms, tie rods and front tires.

Finally installed an air filter. Been riding without one so far. Ended up having to order a new fuel petcock, mine quit working and also began leaking. Got some new tierods ordered, and a new exhaust gasket on the way. A little routine maintenance then back to riding and continuing my upgrades and build.

Exhaust gasket, fuel petcock and tie rods came in. Probably get it all installed Saturday and hopefully ride some.

I had that bottom one on my YFZ450. Wasn't to bad. And you can remove the black middle plate and make your own design.

Installed the new tierods, exhaust gasket and fuel valve today. When I was going back with the exhaust one of the studs started spinning and acting like it might pull out. I'm assuming the best fix is a helicoil?? I also changed out some of the bolts to hex cap fasteners for a cleaner look.

I also decided on what bumper and ordered it, I decided to get the Alba Racing Pro Elite. Ordered a new handlebar pad too since mine got busted when I flipped at Durhamtown.

Bumper got here today. Alba has crazy fast shipping!!! It looks great, very light weight. Appears to be nice quality and welds, should be pretty tough. Anyway, all the mounting holes on the frame were messed up. Had to put helicoils in the two lower holes and the upper was to thin to helicoil,so I used a bolt with a polylock nut. Got it mounted up solid. Used the same hex cap bolts like I've changed some of the other bolts to in past posts.

Ordered the Alba Racing control arm kit. Widens 1.5" per side for 3" total and has replaceable ball joints. Can't wait to get them and install them.

new handlebar pad came in today. The Pro Taper pad is much nicer and better quality than the Fly Racing pad I had before. Also got some bad news in an email from Alba Racing, my control arms are on backorder right now. Could be 3 weeks to a month before I get them
