Last night i picked up a 2000 Blaster for $220. its in rough shape with no compression at all. got it all stripped last night and started cleaning things up. once i opened up the motor i found it to be really clean for a no compression motor. i measured it all out and the piston and bore both measure right around 66.5mm but the rings, off the piston with no pressure squeezing the closed measure 65.5mm. could i get by just ordering proper sized rings? This isn't my first blaster (or 2 stroke) but I've never been this far inside a blaster. If I'm right stock bore on a blaster is 66mm? has this one been bored? i am almost tempted to take it to a machine shop but I'm cheap. any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum. Nice ugly Xmas sweater!

$220 for a blown Blaster is a good deal. Do the right thing, have the cylinder measured and see if that piston is in specs for it. It could be tapered, out of round, or wore out!

A fresh bore, piston, rings, and top end gasket's are gonna cost a couple bucks, but it's always cheaper to do it right the first time.
