Hi all,

I just picked up an 01 blaster 200. The front brakes are shot and the rear brakes only have the rotor disk. It has no caliper, no lines. I'm searching for a new setup, but I was wondering if it's possible to run a nonhydro system? Thanks in advance.

01's came stock with cable operated brakes, front and rear

yes but why? the cable brakes that came on this blaster were iffy sometimes. Needed adjusting, cleaned and was a pain. Hydro brakes are not 100% better, but 100000000% better. If you're in the middle of a trail, 6th gear WOT and you pull that front brake lever and the spongy cable brakes. You might slow down for that hairpin up there, might not. Also with cable brakes, you have to pull much harder. The harder you pull the fast you stop. Why not exert much much less energy pulling that lever to get more stopping power. Now your hand isnt cramped 20 min into a ride.

Cable brakes suck, switch to hydro. First mod I did to my blaster was hydro brakes.

I am telling you DO NOT get cable brakes. The hydros might cost a little more, But you can 1 sell it for a little more 2 get much better stoping power 3 you will never need to do work to them except occasionally change pads if you like to slam on them 4 hydros are self adjusting so if you get pad wear the pistons push it closer so, zero adusting needed. So think about that before you pick up new brakes.
