I picked up a blaster for 150 bucks last week. It had absolutely no compression. I have done a full top end rebuild, and it will not start. It's about to drive me crazy. The reeds are fine, exhaust isn't clogged, has great compression, great spark, I cleaned the carb and all the jets, and I get nothing. Out of desperation, I sprayed 1 shot of starting fluid in the carb, and it fired right up. Can someone please tell me what I'm missing here??

Sounds like your pilot jet is plugged up or the pet weiner isn't flowing enough fuel . First take the fuel line off the carb and turn the fuel on to see if you have a steady flow of fuel . If that's good...next take the carb apart and clean again . Make sure you can see light through all the small holes of the pilot jet . Blow the carb out with compressed air . Make sure the brass washer is under the main jet while it's apart and set the float height to 21mm

Starting fluid will help start an engine with low compression, poor spark, leaky reeds of a fuel delivery problem.

A better way to diagnose wether it is a fuel problem is to atomise some premixed fuel into the carb throat.

Keep your thump off of the throttle when kicking it to allow the fuel enrichment circuit do its job.
