inhave a 96 I bought from a friend it's been sitting for 3 years it's a mess the key broke off so you have to splice two wires for the ignition to turn on but I wasn't getting any spark bought a new plug an plug wire an coil off amazon an the stock coil had a wire running to it an now I don't know where to put the wire on the new one can someone help

You need a manual. Either a dvd, online, or better yet a paper OEM that you can take to the worksite.

you do not connect any wires for it to run
the keyswitch and killswitch out by the grips both connect those wires to ground out the ignition and kill the engine.
so you connecting them (black wire to black with white stripe wire) kills the ignition.

unhook the wires and try again.

below is the 88-02 ignition troubleshooting, you have to follow it exactly and measure the ohm values given,
if your readings don't match those values, there's your problem
unless you just want to keep throwing parts at it until it runs = $
