I was just wanting to know what the pros and cons are of doing the bearing roller mod. I was in a pinch a couple weeks ago and needed a roller fast so I found the thread where a guy shows you how to make your own rollers out of reinforced plastic hose and heater hose. Worked for my ride I went on but it looks like it might wear fairly quick so I was looking at my options for rollers. My lower one was replaced when I built the quad and its holding up pretty good I would say so I wanted to see if there is any real benefits to doing the bearing rollers.

It may be wishful thinking but it seems to me that the dual bearing chain roller holds up better.
After adding a BB kit and good shocks, longer swingarm, and long travel rear suspension I was killing stock rollers!

I got a 240 with the +3 crank so mine is a beast and I'm 250 pounds on stock suspension so I'm sure I'm wearing mine a lot faster than most. Hopefully my rear shock will come in soon and help with the roller wear.

I saw your thread on how to do it but no one ever really states if it really helps with wear.

What kind of shape is the threaded rods that your stock rollers ride on?

I think the material that the dual bearing chain roller are made of is what makes them last longer.

You see the stock rollers in my thread, they have about 40hrs on them! My dual bearing chain roller have more them 40hrs on them and look NEW but dirty!

Haven't really looked at the rods. I do know that I replaced them before losing my plastic bushing so I would think the rods would still be good. I would imagine that the rods only wear like that if you lose your roller while riding and don't catch it right away before your chain starts to wear it down.
