Looking at buying a blaster to mess around on this season. Just curious if there's certain years I should stay away from and what else I should be aware of. I know that the brakes suck and that the oil injection pumps fail on certain ones..?
Any input is appreciated. Thanks

The 2003 to 2006 blasters have hydraulic brakes, but you will pay more for them! I also think a lot of the oil injection pump problems may be from lack of proper maintenance.

Make sure you check out the LEFT (corrected from the right) side crank case by the clutch push lever (my two fingers are pointing to places where I have seen the cracks). I've had three out of four broke or cracked there from improper chain adjustment and maintenance). A good TIG welder can fix it as mine are, but you can haggle the price a little more maybe. Also have someone lift up the rear end by the grab bar and try to wiggle the axle to see if rear bearings are good or not.

Awesome, thanks! What are the 03+ going for nowadays? There's a guy near me who has an 04, completely stock asking 1200. I thought that seemed high. He didnt really have much other info on it or have any idea if the top end has ever been done.

I paid 1k for both of mine and 800 for my neighbor's son. They were 2000's and 1998. I guess the hydraulic brakes are worth the extra couple hundred. If it is missing a lot, take heed, the little parts and new top end start to add up quick!! Good luck.

What do you guys think about this.. 99 with rebuilt top and bottom end. But stock brakes and everything else. He's down to $850

Also, a 2002. fresh top end. front hydraulic brake conversion. nerf bars. DG bumper. Slip on DG muffler and tors delete kit. $1100

From cruising CL seems like asking prices have been going up a bit.
Any major work should have receipts at least for parts, or be willing to allow comp test, 120# Minimum.
General overall condition/looks says a lot on how it may have been cared for.
Having a milk crate to set it on makes it easy to check suspension and bearings/bushings.

Currently no he's too busy with work fast6hand has one but 2 others r interested and I don't think you'll b able to get it just get 03+ caliper, carrier, axle, master cylinder and fab up a bracket for the cylinder
