Engine mounting

OK so I got the bottom end done, and am waiting on the money to send the top end off. I want to go ahead and put the bottom back in the frame and hook up basically everything but the carb, pipe and plug.
How much harder is it really to put the top end together, while it's on the machine. I pulled the top off before removing the motor, so I don't really even know how much harder it would be to mount the motorif it were fully built first.
Is it six of one a half dozen of the other? If it were you, the bottom was ready and you know it would be at least 2 weeks maybe more before you had the to out back on.

Would you go ahead and install the bottom? Or Would you wait for the top, put the whole motor together then install it on the bike?
And most importantly why?

it can be done with bottom in frame, but is much easier on the bench, especially making sure the rings stay on the locating pins.
but torqueing everything is easier and better with the bottom end mounted soild in the frame.

To me its the same either way EXCEPT for getting the rings in...
Which is a pain in the quad, but also a pain on bench if you are alone

Rings go in a heap better if there are 3 hands, one to hold the rings and the other 2 to lower the cylinder.

Lol that answers that, I can stand laying my head on the back tire long enough to keep an eye on the rings, if it means only having to bolt up the intake and exhaust, after the top end goes on.

At the rate I am going it might be a while, put a feeler ad up for th heli i am selling a week or so ago, got a bite, but between life and 10 days straight of rain the dude got mad and moved on before I got it all together. I finally got some pics and got an add up yesterday.
But that dude wanted my heli, which sells used $500 selling for $420, and all my spares another $400 dollars worth, but just kinda just expected I throw the spares in with it. I got around $700 in the heli alone, and that it just whats on it now. So not too upset the guy passed. I am going to keep the spares or sell the spares and keep the heli. But i am not selling both for the price of one.

If you have done it many many times, you can slide the cylinder over the piston in under 10 seconds with no help, with the engine in the frame

So it can be easily done alone, but to have someone to guide the pistonrings is always welcome i would say

Can also put the piston in the cylinder,slide it a bit over the studs and then connect the piston with the rod...

Shouldn't have any trouble with the rings , I got an XS pair of dexterity gloves that fit my wife's hands perfectly.

She's real crafty and knows a bit about motors and other guy stuff as well

If one slips a bit of thin wood ( clean of course with no splinters ) under the front and rear skirt to support the piston above the crankcase opening, the piston will stand up and allow the cylinder to be fitted very easily.
