Picked up a good working 400ex shock from E-bay for $20 plus shipping. Odered the bushing kit with bolt and nut for $25 shipped from the Ken O'Conor Racing website on a Wednesday afternoon, Friday morning when the mailman ran at my Home in North Georgia he delivered my package from Ken's Shop. I was blown away the best I had hoped for was to maybe get them on Saturday.

Opened up the package, which took a little effort no way was this thing coming open in the mail, at first glance the bushings looked nice, machining marks were smooth and chatter free. The Initial test fit was quite tight, once I cleaned up the mounting tabs on my blaster and smeared a little lube on them, I was able to coax the bushings in with little trouble. The fit was a mild to moderate interference fit, which I was quite happy with. One of my initial concerns was that I don't have a welder to tack the bushings in place. Let me tell you that is no problem. Ken knows that most of us are DIY guys and not all of us have a welder, and obviously takes this into consideration as that kind of nice snug fittakes precision and doesn't happen by accident. If you want a little less snug fit, say you are welding the bushings in, then your best bet would be to take a little off the inside of you mounting tabs, because these bushings are made of some really tough steel. When i went to install the shock it's bushing fit perfectly between the KOR conversion bushings. The included bolt was of good quality and fit properly, definitely worth the extra $5 just for the convenience of having it on hand to do the install.

All in all I give the 400ex conversion bushings a solid 9++ of 10, The bushings are machined perfectly from good steel, fit and finish is nice as well. I would have prefered to have a chamfer on the end to aid in starting the bushings, and ended up cutting the chamfer myself in under 5 mins. Is it possible the it may have affected the strength of the bushings, probably not.
I will say it's easier to cut a chamfer or loosen up the tolerances, than to try to put metal back if it fits loosely.

I haven't seen the bushings the other companies offer, but getting them with a matching bolt is not an option, and I seriously doubt they can match the quality of the steel, and the impressive fit and finish of the KOR bushings.
I am surprised that we are able to get these for the same price as other sell theirs for.

Can't wait to get my top end done at KOR, with the attention to detail that went into just a set of bushings, I have no doubt that the engine work will be flawless.
Thanks,
