YZF600 engine stuffed into a 90 blaster

Still no reply from brake line company. Going to call tomorrow, otherwise I may just have to pony up for the ones online.

Been so busy lately, haven't had a chance to get to the bike. This weekend was both Canadian Thanksgiving and our wedding anniversary but I managed to get a few hours free to do some exhaust work. I hate doing exhaust...

Used what little header pipe came with the bike and luckily the free header I got was the same ID as the OD of the fZR header, so I got the 4-1 collector I needed and the extra tubing and bends I needed that I couldn't find anywhere but online.

Got the lower 2 pipes done. I'll have to space the footrests out because I am routing the exhaust between the frame and pegs since I didn't want the exhaust to be lower than the frame.

Gonna be bad to the bone, gotta get another blasty when money, the sheer nasty power this thing promises has caused me to want a it490 or cr 500 motor in one.
May not require as much fab work or at least not in the frame area. Bc I can't weld for snot

Have you wired a and fired the engine yet?
Probably not a good idea until the pipes are I'm place.
What about raising the bars to Gove you more clearance for the airbox?
Seems to be a popular mod anyway.

Yea, a big displacement 2 stroke would be awesome. You could probably get away with only a little frame work including engine mounts.

I ran the engine when it was still in the sled. Loud with only about 2' of header. Haven't got the rad or electrical done yet or removed the engine to fully weld the frame so I'm still a little ways off from starting it.

These bars are raised a bit already but that is likely what I'm going to do, make up some bar risers to clear it and chop a little off the airbox If I can.

I'll get some video when it does, don't you worry about that :p

I finished up the other two pipes. Going to have to get some band clamps though for two pipes. I'll have to clamp them to the collector because the two a-arm tubes that run from top to bottom get in the way so I can't get weld it all together or I'd never get the exhaust in or out of the frame.

I'm going to redo the first exhaust pipe to go more inline with the others so I can add the frame bracing I want. Will probably need to have the first 3 pipes on clamps after trying to maneuver the exhaust out of the frame, we'll see how that goes.

Also, going to have to mount the rad behind the bumper. I'll weld some more tubes to the bumper to protect the rad and get some mesh or plate to keep any sticks from stabbing it.

Will see how much it will cost to have the rad inlet moved to the other side so I don't have to wrap the hose all the way around the rad.

Also, Deebee, that 76 hp that you mentioned earlier is wheel hp on the FZR. The engine itself makes ~91 hp and 48 ft/lbs. Quite a bit less than a modern fuel injected 600 but I only paid $175 for the whole thing.

What's the stock blaster at?

Omg 96hp at the crank. I think 17 is at the wheels, so call it just under 20. Leaves a 500% increase.

100hp blaster. A one hundred horsepower blaster.

Just say it a time or two . Feels good don't it:D

Haha. Will be fun. May want to make it more stable/better shocks. Unless this a straight get up and go blaster and that's it.

I will be upgrading shocks at some point. The rear on it is fully adjustable but I think is blown. The front I'm sure are weak, they seem to hang in spots.

I'll keep my eyes out for better units over winter.

Hey guys, life gets in the way so no new progress really. Haven't forgot about you! Though I have been thinking on how to fix the front motor mounts that I don't like and have come up with some ideas. Also going to have to make exhaust flanges for 3 of the header pipes so I can unbolt the header pipes below the a-arm tubes. This week is supposed to be nice weather so I hope to get out and work on them.

Also am getting a 400ex rear shock for the rear. Are banshee fronts really worth that much better than stock?

I've personally never used them on a blaster but if you search them on the forum here a lot of people that putr them on said they barely noticed a difference, waste of money if you ask me. You can get a good set of used works on ebay or craigslist for not much more.
