Jimmer's Blaster motor in vintage Yamaha bike

I put some very fun 40 miles on it today, had a gal in her 50's tell me at a traffic light that she loved it and thought it was a new bike?! Jetting is sorted out and a 14 tooth sprocket is on the way.13/41 is WAY too short.I wish I was savvy enough to upload a video:(. Thanks for the compliments people.

@Jimmer , There are a few Dt/Wr transmissions on E bay right now for a great price. Being as there gear ratios are for road highway use. They might bust just what your looking for.

1st 34/11 (3.091) ~~~~~ 35/11 (3.181)

I put another couple hours on the Blaster bike running the 14/40 gearing. This is a very peppy ride.I am going to raise the needle one position, drop the pilot from #40 to a #35 , and see if I can shoehorn a 15 tooth sprocket on it before the next ride. The powerband is strong from 4000 and pulls to about 9500 before fading! I'll be glad when this 95 degrees and high humidity backs off some.I really like the Vapor digital instruments.Very good features and having cylinder head temp is helpful.

What temps are you getting on the head. Whats your speeds also?
For lack of any good info, I have the warning light coming on at 320 and alarming at 340.Any idea what good numbers should be on these motors? All the research I found for air cooled 2-strokes was anything from 300 to over 500! I am open to suggestions if someone has the scoop. I have not topended it yet,but it calculates out to 90mph at 9300 in 6th.

For the sake of the pipe. Where do you feel the powerband hit? Is it smooth or hard hitting ? Does it like the higher or lower revs? Does it want to keep pulling in the upper rpm's?

Right now my jetting is pretty good.A bit fat off idle, cleans up and pulls from 4000,turns on real strong at 6000-9000ish with good over rev.Max rpm recall on one run was 10,030. Later this week I have several days off and I will detail the jetting, get some more miles on it,hopefully with the 15 tooth countershaft sprocket. So the powerband is linear but really wakes up at 6000 for extra grins.I feel the bottom end will only get better going one pilot jet leaner and raising the needle one spot.I'll know much more in another week.

A very nice 137 mile ride today. Midrange roll-on is great, pulls right up to 9300 before starting to taper off with good over-rev.I have not done an official mileage check yet, but easily looks better than 35mpg.

The Sand Blaster is getting close to 40 mpg. Also ,if you snatch the throttle from a first gear idle it will stand straight up and more of the same in 2nd gear.

Out for another morning ride.View attachment 24521
Nice build! I would get a specially made/calculated pipe for that set-up, you're saying it is a 175cc pipe, it would make a huge difference with all the other mods. Hpi inner rotor is a nice icing on the cake then:)
The pic of the RD350 Jollymoto's is just an example off how beautiful it would look with a handmade pipe.
Straight up 2-stroke p*rn:p
