Anybody wanna become a tractor mechanic with me?

Been parked at a neighbors house for 5-6 years. If I can get it fixed I can use it pretty much as much as I want. I know nothing about tractors or diesels. He said when he was last using it, he heard something pop, and the backhoe shifted, and the motor died. I found what popped

Gonna have to pull the tire and wheel/fender well off to get the broke off bolt out. I think the other side is only bent, not broken. The guy really knows nothin about tractors, it was his grandpa's, but grandpa is senile now. If I could get the backhoe attachment off, it should be good for anything else. Just gotta find out what preemptive work I should do before trying to start this bad boy.

Hope you trust this guy. I wouldn't put my own money into it. Unless necessary, I wouldn't pull the hoe off.

I've known them for 10+years. Not real close friends, but his wife works for us on occassion when we need an extra painter. Found out yesterday the range shift shaft was broken off when the bolt snapped. Could be major, may have to split the tractor, but I'm hoping not, prob a lot more involved than splitting blaster cases. Hopefully I can get to it from an access, or maybe redneck engineer something. Other than that, I think I'm looking at about $500 to get this thing fully operational again, not including time. The hoe actually is only attached by 2 pinsthat slide into position, 2 locking pins, and the rockshaft. The plates ( where the bolt(s) broke) stay on the tractor.

I split a Ford 3000, wasn't bad. Need two jacks and cement floor. Was able to use two longer bolts with head cut off for alignment dowles.

hello friends. ahaha. anyone ever use aftermarket handle bar risers(besides the top mount flip)

was looking at the tusk 30mm. hy(cant remember the rest) 30mm and a cnc 22mm.

was wondering if anyone has ever used these? any suggestions? and anyone want to sell some?

Ive used risers with success. They were for 7/8" bars. I know pro taper makes the conversion to 1 1/8" bars. I recommend the fat bars.

I have these Powermadd 7/8" to 1-1/8" x 2" rise on my scooter build, they also come in 3" and 4" rise, and 7/8" to 7/8"
CNC'd out of a solid block

The idea of welding onto the bolt may work. Never had a scenario where we've had to try something like that! And for the shifter shaft is that for the PTO or the actually gear shifter? PTO would be an easy fix. As for the gear shifter shaft I know that can only be accessed on 1 or 2 of our smaller tractors without splitting the tractor so you might be in luck! But the smaller tractor the easier it is to split anyway. The biggest thing is making sure how easily (and safely) you can control and maneuver the 2 halves after bing split. I would personally rather split a tractor then blaster cases!

I used the tusk ones for 2/seasons with no problems. Only reason I got rid of then, was a +2 antivibe stem deal I couldn't pass up.

I gave them to my friend, and he is running them, no problems.

They are well worth the comfort, and hold up very well to hard riding.

Its the gear range shifter for the transmission, hi, med, lo. Its fairly close to the access panel for the transmission, so I'm hoping it'll be easy. I joined a tractor forum and they already hooked me up with the tech manual ($100 value) so that was awesome.

member blastertrucker, who's been to all of the rides I've hosted in the past, and also the KOR ride a few years ago, saved my azz once when my truck blew a wheel bearing in the middle of nowhere NY on the way to kens.
today was my day to repay him :)
Steve is from philly on the other side of the state, but regularly brings his family to Rock Run ATV Park about a 1/2 hour from me, for a week long stay.
he called around 2:30 today and asked if I knew someone to weld his sons Apex 90 frame, of course I did :)
I expected just a crack or 2, not 4" sections MIA

cracked clean thru, (same on the other side)
4" curved section completely missing

we cut up the old 7/8" bars off my cx500, which slid into that frame perfectly, used a curved section to fill in what was missing, and a straight piece to sleeve the cracked section. the other side had to get butt welded.

hopefully that will last him thru the week long stay here until he can get a new frame for it when he gets home.
but he knows where to call if he needs anything else while here :)

Well made some progress on the tractor. I got pics but my phone won't let me post em. Got the rockshaft assembly off and the shaft I gotta replace is right on top. In the process, discovered all 12 bolts holding the side plates for the backhoe were snapped. I'm thinking now instead of trying to pull them all, I'll pull a few that I have to, then get my buddy to weld inside the other bolt holes, and add some more welds where we can. Thinking it will be faster and stronger that way

I'm hoping my idea for the backhoe plates will work. Shift shaft should be easy, so once the parts get here, hopefully in a day I will have her driving around. Here's some pics of it torn apart.

I always thought cornering on a quad would be harder than a bike but it took me a few hours of riding the 1st day to be sliding sideways and ripping out of them. When I had my dirt bike I was never comfortable taking corners like I do now.
