Hey guys, I have a very nice pair of stage 3 Elkas fronts laying around for a 250r that I would like to mount on my blaster. Is this even feasible? If so, what modifications might I have to do to make it work properly?

For the rear shock, it seems a lot of guys recommend a stock 250r rear as the top choice without spending and arm and a leg. If going this route, what exactly is the correct way of making it fit so the bike sits and rides properly? I've seen people talk about having the shock shortened and then I've where people are changing the mounting location.

on my black blaster, I had to move the lower shock mount back 1-1/2" for a trx 250r shock to fit and sit at stock height,
the shock eye fills the upper mount spacing so I used the KOR busings on the outside of our frame mounts just to reduce the bolt size.
I have now swapped in a YFZ 450 shock that sits the same as the 250r.

Awk, do you happen to have a picture showing how you moved the lower shock mount back an 1-1/2"? Not exactly sure how you about doing that. Also, having tried multiple rears, what is your favorite?

So other than long travel arms, which is in the works, the 250r fronts are a bolt on?

I'll try to find pics of the mount moved back, this was a homemade 4" extended stock swinger that came with that black bike, it must have been made by piecing 2 swingers together as it had 2 mounts still on it, the stock position and one back about 4 inches they never cut off, I cut them flat and welded 1/4" x 1" steel between the 2 and drilled those "rails" where needed to keep the stock ride height

I've had stock, 400ex, 450r, works and now elkas, and thats the order I rank them, nothing like these elkas except maybe some peps, ohlins or fox floats.

on the black bike I went from stock to 250r and now the YFZ 450, the last 2 are about equal ride except the YFZ is 20 years newer and should last longer.

not sure about fronts, except if you use too long it'll destroy the ball joints
