I just figured I'd wing it and see if it worked and it actually opened up a lot I was having issues with it getting full power until I did that and it worked

That filter looks barely big enough for a lawnmower.
I've read of drilling jets. You'd have to have one hella set of bits to be able to change size maybe .0005
Then how do you keep track? Long as you don't melt it down, who gives a rat's azz.

While you get an A for application, you get an E for eficiency.
Think of it like rocks in a river. Every rock has an eddy and swirling water around it.
A smaller smooth tube would flow more than a convoluted tube of same size.
The best application would be a tube getting progressively smaller from filter to carb.

Its kool guys everyone got they're own thing and larr I was thinking about that I mean all I'm basically doing is tinkering around and seeing what works best for me and I've noticed that with the older 2bangers if a rider is going to build them up themselves they gotta adjust it to how they like it you know no harm no problem
 
Yes that might cause that but wouldn't you also think if the air is going through correctly it would cause almost the same type of flow as having your carburetor riffled cause the way the air is flowing through it it almost seems as if it well controlled just a thought probably wrong but that's why I'm asking

A rifling is a hell of a lot less turns than that. At the speeds the air flows thru those hoses, having it do a full turn would be too much. I've taken fluid dynamics in school so I know a thing or 2 about air flow. Having any more than about a 16 degree reduction (estimated, can't remember exact angle) will cause turbulence in flow and those ridges are a lot sharper than that. A smooth straight surface is ideal.
 
Alright that does put it in more of a perspective but I didn't know how much of a turn it was that does help I'll try the smoother hose once I get one I just know this thing would run like a champ before I tore it down to rebuild and also fix my buddies
 
I would really suggest buy proper sized jets too so that you know exactly where you are at and can plug chop like suggested before to verify you are getting full power. It may be running really strong now but you could be too lean and about to blow or you could potentially be rich and could get even more power if it was spot on
 
And a lot of these members have done experimenting and engine building longer than we have been walking so it is good to listen to them so you can not only harness full power out of your blasters but get full reliability as well
 
I was thinking about this and I did buy more jets but when I pulled the plug it didn't seem to be to bad I could still see the ceramic white but once I rebuild it the way I want it I will do this

I do agree with this but I also like to do a little of my own tinkering if you know what I mean

That may be true but unless you do a proper plug chop you may be rich in certain ranges and lean in others. Looking at a plug that's been thru all ranges of throttle can only tell you so much. Just keep that in mind.

And doing the plug chop after your rebuild will be a very good thing to do. Leak tests after a rebuild are extremely important as well.

Everyone loves it when someone does there own unique tinkering but it also has limits so bouncing your ideas off others on here before hand could potential save your blasters from disaster.

Hell you never know, you might find something that could help others out in the future with tinkering.
 
That's true I mean almost everything I know about these are cause I just decided to tear one down when it needed rebuilt and I've basically learned everything on my own without help or seeing it done just certain things with electrical and just like asking what crank was the best are little things I've asked about or looked up
 
There are two types of tinkering, experienced and inexperienced!

If you tinker without knowing first the basics, results are often catastrophic and costly!
