Rebuilding a lt 50. Cases clean, rebuilt crank, and head bored and honed. KOR did the crank and cylinder.

Will keep posted on progress.

This should be a cool build. They are good soild little quads, perfect for small children? What year is this? Ours is an 84 or 85, still has a metal tank on it.

My son rode the snot out of his. Had it for two years and sold it for what I paid for it.

Can't wait to see what you come up with for compression.

The right side if the motor is a strange. The seal actually sits inside the case up against the crank. Then the bearing goes in. Which is backwards from our blasters. The clutch oil must lubricate it.

Update:

Got the motor in the bike. Tried starting it over and over and nothing. So I checked all connections, spark and compression. All checked out.

I got it to turn over a couple times. So I got to thinking. I pulled the carb and the pilot jet was clogged. So I cleaned it out. A couple pulls later it fired up.

I did one heat cycle. But it got late so will be finishing tomorrow.

I did find a slight head gasket leak. One question. The gasket isn't copper, but can I lap the head, and put a slight smear of copper RTV on a new gasket?

Update:

I'm still messing around with it. It's been taking a bit longer then expected. I got the head issued fixed and it now runs a lot better, and doesn't leak. Now I'm redoing the front brakes. I also ordered a new carb due to the one I have keeps clogging the jets. Dang ethanol, it eats everything!

there was some recalls when they started using ethanol in gas...for the blaster fuel pet cuck rubber gasket anyways.

Update!

Got the new carb and front brake items, along with new dust covers for the front spindles. All in all it turns easily now! Yay! And with the new carb it starts first pull.

Now to make it safe. The PO trimmed the plastics. Now I can't bolt the original heel guards up. Have some thinking to do. Plastics for this thing are crazy expensive, and hard to find used. Maybe I'll fab some heel guards. Just don't want my little boys feet becoming mush. Any ideas?

Update:

So I found some decent red plastics for a good price, and finally found some heel guards. Both the plastics and guards are beat up, but will work in protecting my boys legs. Oh and my buddy redid the seat cover. He's ready to ride!
