They're not that expensive new from your local Yamaha dealer. Have them order it with their next parts order and you shouldn't have to pay for shipping. And you can pick whatever color you want. I bought a new white tank cover and 03-06 hood and it wasn't that bad. Now, rear fenders, that's another story.

$35 free shipping for a very used hood off a 88 is the cheapest I can find on fleabay

I don't remember what I paid for them. I get a little bit of a discount from my local Yamaha dealer. I just looked up retail on the parts on line and the 03-06 hood is about $50. The early and late style hoods are priced similar. The tank cover is $67 or $77 depending on which color you get. So, for a little over $100, you can have a brand new hood and tank cover in whatever color you want.
