Picked this up on trade. Traded a 1950-51 titan chainsaw for this. It runs, but not on its own. It needs a carb clean and new valve seals. Smokes pretty good. Also needs an upper rear shock bolt. The guy didn't know what was wrong with it and why the rear dropped out when it was picked up. He rode it like that he told me. The rear plastics are shot. No saving them. I was going to stitch them up but it's a waste of time.

This one has something the two you left in Nevada doesn't have according to harley, electric start...lol

So I have been mulling this over. Any input would be nice. Should I do a 2 stroke conversion and full suspension upgrade? A rebuild on current motor and suspension upgrade or a current motor rebuild and keep the suspension stock with new parts?

As of now, the front end is loose, the motor needs seals but runs. The muffler is rotted out. The plastics are toast. A lever on the bars are broken off. It was basically abused.

I was looking over the bike a few minutes ago. The motor swap can be done, but because of the suspension design, it would be to hard to redo. The front has such a small shock and wheel travel is limited because of frame design. I wouldn't be able to do a custom suspension without a ton of work and it wouldn't be worth it. I'm going to fix it up back to original specs and either rip it the way it is or sell it. I'll most likely sell it. The repair list isn't very long and replacement parts are basically the rear brake lever, hand grips, battery cable, brake pads and plastic.
I will yank the rear tires for the blaster and find something cheap for the lt230.

I already tossed the rack into the trash and the right part of the rear fender. I need to pull a few brackets from the left rear piece and than toss that as well. The fronts will get race cut to remove the broken plastic. It will make it look a little better at the same time. But it's 30 degrees outside and my body does not like it so I will wait for warmer times.

way way way back in the day, I always thought the 230 looked like a fun ride, but then again all I had at the time was a Yamaha 200E 3 wheeler.
