Anyone know what it is? I was thinking maybe the clear tube trick would work, but not sure. I tried searching all over for a manual when we got it. Guess I may have to break down and buy one. When I got it about a year ago it had gas dripping from the overflow when I looked at it. Figured it was no big deal we'd just shut the fuel off when not riding. Well that doesn't always happen lol. I have to say its my fault as much as my daughters. She got it out today and had trouble starting it, so I messed with it for a few. Could tell it was getting to much fuel. Pulled the airbox lid and tada.... half full of gas. Filter is shot. Oh and its a 1989

The clear tube may be an idea!

If it has been sitting for a while there could be a varnish buildup on the needle and seat not stopping the flow of fuel.

i could not find a free manual either, but did find that should be a mikuni vm24 carb, and this ...........

Mikuni VM24, Your static float height (carbs upside down no gasket) is 23mm

From what I understand it was sitting a long time when I got it, so I tore the carb down and cleaned it a couple times, among other things. Since then it hasn't really sat more than a month without running. Thanks Awk I didn't think of just looking for the carb... all about how you play with the googler :)

I looked up the VM24 and it doesn't look the same as mine. Mine actually has a choke cable that comes into the top. Well the airbox is nice and clean now, and it now has a drain lol. Looked at the sight on the crankcase and its over full too.

I can find pics, and some to buy, but not actually a model no. I found P3 on some parts sites but that comes back with a bunch of carbs. I'll keep tickling the googler;)

Now I am confused and giving up for the evening. Took the carb out and it measures about 23mmo_O. Of course it should be an even number so wtf. So I decided to go ahead and pay for the manual download (I'm not sure how or if I can put it on here to share) According to it, it should be a vm20ss. The manual has 2 different id numbers 02c00 or 02c01. Guess what mine is 02c02. Anyway I'm gonna try the level there (25.8mm +-1mm. Hopefully it works out for me!

So far it seems to be working. The only worry I have now is the clutch. Its an automatic with the foot shifter (not sure what the name is for that). When I drained the oil it was thin and damn near filled a coffee can. I figure it prob had close to a quart of gas in it. I poured about half a quart of oil and let it run right out and took the oil filter out. I think I'll have my gf grab some more oil in town this week and I'll change it again. It didn't wanna downshift when I took it on a test drive, seemed to upshift fine tho.

change that oil after every ride about 3 times and it should clear all that junk out

Thanks for all your help awk, and you to speedy. Its actually spelled centrifugal.. lol. I knew that much and was gonna call it semi-auto, but that felt like a fire-arm reference lol. The oil I run in it is $10 a quart so that'll be another $50:eek:, but I'll follow advice of a master lol

just use cheap dollar store 10w-30 to do the ride/flush procedure, then back to your high dollar stuff afterwards

Not sure. We've been pretty happy with ours though. It was my daughters first quad, and it only took her a few rides to get the hang of the gears.
