03+ carrier options

I don't think that's a bulge, rather its where the inner collar didn't reach to wear down the axle as it did to the right! I would toss it and get that whole setup, so there's no worries.

I wasn't thinking the splines were bad. Any sure fire ways to check them? I'm thinking I'll check to see if they have any front to back movement, I can't think of anything else to try. I'm going to try n get this local set up so I can finally get this beast rolling.

Put the hubs on the splines and see if there's a lot of rotational slop. Also, if the hub seal surfaces are as rusty as everything else, water is going to get past the seals in no time. While we're on the subject of seals, the brake side seal has a 1 mm larger ID than the sprocket side seal.

I bought the ebay kit, got it part and the bearings were intact but everything was smeared in greased mud. Anyway, I started the hunt for a 300 jet to replace, and have come across the ebay carb repair kits for $11. Is that the best route to go? Or does anyone have a recommendation, maybe a member here I can throw a couple bucks to.

Cool! Glad that worked out for you.

Go to your local Yamaha dealer for jets. As for rebuild kits, the only part that really needs replaced is the needle and seat when your carbs are leaking out the overflow.

screw the rebuild kits.

disassemble and carefully clean everything. then reassemble and viola.

go to your local yamaha cealer to buy genuine mikuni jets, or order them

Ready for that jet!!
She's up n running, just won't idle right. Just to be sure, I screwed the pilot all the way in, started at 1/2 turn, & went out to 3.5 turns with no luck getting it to idle. 300 jet and then the same procedure is the plan. As for now, I just put screws in the pumps in/outputs, is it better to have the lines shorter, or does it not matter after the air is out? Also, I mixed 2.6 oz/1 gal, what's that ratio equal? Anyway, was wondering if you guys any other useful tips/advice for a newbie, or just stay on track? I also was looking for a DIY video for rear brake assembly. I have all the parts, previous owner just ran the front brake.

The air idle screw should be about 1.5 turns out from lightly seated. Did you adjust the Idle screw at all? Its either on the side of the carb, or on the top of the TORS Brick on your carb cap.

I figured out 2.6oz of oil to 1 gallon of gas is about 49:1. Mix 4 oz to a gallon and you will be at 32:1 ratio. That's what most people run, and have good results with.

Read some of the jetting articles in the carb section, They will help you understand more about your carb and how it works.

4 ounces of oil per gallon !
2.6 is not enuf, she's gonna blow !
throw that sh*t in the lawnmower or car and remix @ 32:1, 4oz. per gallon
99.9999% of all jetting info is based on 32:1 mix.

start with the airscrew at 1.5 turns out, adjust 1/4 turns either way, allowing 10-20 seconds between each turn for the engine to catch up to the new fuel ratio, find the turns it idles the highest, then reset your idle screw for desired rpm's

Thanks for the heads up. I used 1 of the 2 cycle oils that has the small chamber at the top that reads "2.6" and to mix per gallon, that's why I went with that mix. I'll be sure and mix it better. I'm glad I only put enough gas to get it started and a quick test run. Prob no harm after 4-5 test starts and 2 quick :30 second test runs, few power slides and wheelie, right?

I do hope that you are not using weed whacker, chain saw or outboard oil.

You must use an oil designed for air cooled motorcycles!

I'll definitely double check the label/brand, but it was a donation (1/3 of a bottle) from a fellow blaster owner. His oil injection is fully functional. I told him I'd like to get mine primed & running, but for now, we're both adding oil, mine just goes in the gas can can.

Do not, and i mean, do not run the oil injection and pre mix at the same time.

Pre mix requires a re jet of one size larger main jet.

Copy that.
I'm going to call the dealer here in a minute to see if they have that 300 jet for me. If I can get this bad boy idling just right today, I will be a happy man!

(Edit)
Order is in!! I had to buy a (4) pack of the 300 main jets, so if anyone needs or wants 1, especially out all you guys that helped me over these last few days/weeks, send me a message or post, I'll send it to you.
Hopefully I can pick them up tomorrow. Thanks again for everyone's help and advice... I'll post back shortly with some pictures.
