Pyramid reeds vs. v-force 4

I have never heard of those but $200 is a lot of money to spend on reeds ... You can get v-force reeds for like $130, or a little cheaper if you find them used. You have to remember reeds do not really add power, they will only make your quad snappier and give better throttle response ! I say save some money and buy the v-force 3's ( or 4's ) or even possibly some aftermarket reed petals for the stock cage. Boysen and vito's have some good reed petals for the stock cage and they only cost $30 - $50.

The pyramid reeds do a good job at feeding the transfers. Instead of the fuel/air mixture having to travel out and then around the cage it just goes straight from the cage to the ports.

Just curious if anyone has compared the Pyramid to any of the other reed valves,
It seems to be kind of a strange setup with the petals on the sides.
All I ever hear about is the vforce and the rad valve.

The makers of the Pyramid reed valves recommend that you change the reeds after every 12 hours of use. That's enough for me not to use them.

$65 for replacement petals every 12 hours is nuts for just riding but for racing motocross or something It would be ok if there was a substantial performance gain. I just want to know if there actually is.

FWIW the vforce 3's are not much better.Petal life is not the greatest and especially bad when running methanol. I have heard good things about the 4's but don't own a set yet. I still would try a new set of 4's over the pyramid reeds.

So basically, you have to replace the reeds ($60) quite often

get vf4

I wouldn't hold a lot of stock in that thread. I did see on the Duncan site itself that they don't recommend running them with a reed spacer so if you want to upgrade to a larger carb, your $200 reeds are sitting on the work bench. Not sure why any SMART person would buy them.

Save your money and get the motor sent to ken to get ported and the head mod done it will cost around 200 and be far better than reeds

I have owned both the v3 and v4 and see a huge power difference in the v4s are a lot snappier I also run a 3/8 reed space in combination with them and love them
