Don't dumpster it..if u can't get it working for you I'd be interested in it..I have 3 projects and not enough pipes...make sure pipe is not plugged up with a nest first..then look into properly setting up carb jetting/settings and plug chops..
A few here n there..I'm new here but Wana keep it alive as there is tons of info from years of experience and kind of gets like reading a book/journal from thru the years. And I don't do "normal" social media..I check for new threads randomly.
Idk about the 240s specifics but I would start by doing compression test, cleaning carb and running a coat hanger thru your exhaust..a rodent nest caused me headaches when I was younger... blowing air hose thru it told me nothing..
Simple things first..make sure key and on off switch are both on...check that plug wire didn't come loose during transport..did you turn fuel off during transport and back on before trying to start?if fuel was left on the whole time it could have flooded it if float doesn't seal well.).does it...
Also. If your watching fuel run thru a clear filter and your line is not clogged I would check the float hight. But since it does it on both carbs? Who knows?..also the filter could have a film that's not noticeable or be on backwards..post back what u come up with..
"Ain't got no gas in it"...seriously tho..might be as simple as clogged fuel line ...had this happenon a friend's walk behind mower..cleaned carb, tank and new fuel cap and damned if the hose wasn't just clogged a bit ..
Nice..I found I could not post pics from my phone..said same thing but if I screenshot the pic then it will let me post the screen shot for some reason.
I just noticed you said .158 and not .0158..maybe someone put to small a piston in with new rings .I have no idea how it would wear that much and still run ..guess it doesn't matter if you got Ken taking care of it..just do proper reassemble and testing(leak down and jetting)..
That would probably explain your "knocking" or piston slap..is it a Chinese cylinder/jug?..could have been bored before, worn out then overly "bench/drill honed" ...that's alot for home hone tho..I did a Chinese top end before and specs were terrible so had to send back..what where your highest...
Did it run well before?..clean carb, do leak down test..adjust air fuel screw..and do plug chops..you will have to research these things if you don't know what they are..could put the air box lid back on with the 240-250 jet ..I'm not sure what jet to recommend for your pipe...
Personally I run rotella t4 just because it's cheaper by the gallon..I've never ran atf but I've heard it talked about before..I used to run regular Castrol GTX years ago but with all the additives and crap that put in oils today you really have to check the ansi ratings or whatever it is that...
