The texture basically flings your fuel into suspension and keeps it mixed with your air. If you polish the transfers the fuel will ring out to the walls and not be mixed as well coming into your cylinder.

This dirt covered one came off a buddy's quad at the end of last summer, we put the stock pipe back on and i had a clean stock jetted carb so i just swapped him for this one. This is apparently a fake k&n if your right because it does not say k&n on the rubber.
