TRX250R Rebuild

a messy garage... so what. Mine is like that all the time. I just shovel a spot big enough to work in. Cleaning comes later!

I guess I've forgot to update this thread. So for anyone who wants to see the progress I've made in the past months here it is.

Just about everything is assembled now. I only have a few things left to do such as clean up and mount the exhaust, install the wiring harness, install the shocks, and install the plastics. I will also probably put some beadlocks with new tires on as well but maybe not right away. Everything is starting to come along nicely. I can't wait to get this thing fired up and ride it. It is by far my best build yet.

Nick, it's a beautiful job but come on already! I've blown up one and put together 2 in the time you started this!
It really is a beautiful job. Keep at it. Keep the pictures coming, love them!

Haha yes, it has been a real slow build but that is because life just keeps kicking me in the balls lol. I had an R1 that blew the motors twice in a range of 500 miles (not my fault) and that drained the bank account. Plus I'm a soccer coach to multiple teams so summer/fall is my busiest time of year. Not to mention that I got married last weekend. That had a lot of free time taken away with planning and things leading to it. That will also be the reason that in December I will be gone a week and delay the rebuild even more along with the holidays.

I'm getting to it as much as I can though. Trying to do my best at restoring old parts rather than new so that's taking time. Right now, its the exhaust I got. I bought used to save some money since hand coned pipes are expensive but what I was told was chrome turned out to be some ugly fake chrome coating. I'm attempting to strip the coating and bring it back to a raw pipe look similar to works pipes. I have a sh*t load of sanding to do on it so that's going to take me a while.

Once that's done, the suspension shouldn't take long. Just have to mount the front and install the bearings in my linkage for the rear. Then try and figure out how to route all the cables and harness. After that, put the gas tank on and assemble the plastics.

Its coming down the home stretch but I'm not sure how much time I will have before the holidays so it might be an early 2018 startup.
